“KP5 DXpedition: The Cursed Paradise of Palmyra Atoll”

John Miller - K6MM was our guest speaker in November, filling in for the postponed auction. John was one of the operators during the 2016 KP5 Palmyra Atoll DX-pedition. He gave an interesting presentation, starting with history of Palmyra and the numerous tragic events that unfolded, and on to the planning and operations during the 2016 DX-pedition

If you're interested in a bit of Palmyra history you may want to read Vincent Bugliosi's book And the Sea Will Tell. The book talks of intrigue and murder on the Palmyra Atoll around the time of the KP6PA DX-pedition. The crew of that 1974 DX-pedition found themselves witnesses in a murder investigation. The crew included Jim Rafferty - N6RJ (then WA9UCE/6) former manager of HRO in Anaheim.
