8/05/2009 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in YHX, NOL, WB9YCJ, MWU, IXN, and HHC.  AF6C’s new Heil microphone sounds great!  YHX says 10m is becoming more active, and NOL said OCARRO meetings have moved to the Red Cross in Santa Ana.  AF6C will soon finish sink drain repairs, and Bob detests putting holes in his new roof to mount antennas!  On his way home frm Vegas today, YCJ’s auto transmission developed a leak…A $500 tow plus no car and a bus ride back to the QTH found Ken on the air tonite!  IXN compliments AF6C’s audio sigs wid the new mike, and Bob-IXN will have a root canal come Aug.11.  AF6C mistakenly tosses his IPOD across the room incapacitating it, so Bob will air ARRL Audio News thru the laptop tonite.  HHC said that XYL Dianne is doing well after operation…Ken will do sum shopping fer Dianne before the 2m Net.


8/05/2009 2m Net – W6ZE/IXN checked in YHX, GMU, WTQ, FKX, AF6C, CF, RWU, HHC, WB9YCJ, and KR6J.  YHX has his home brew seismometer antenna about ready to mount, and GMU tried to check in on the 10m Net tonite.  WTQ checked in frm the Orange County Fair Booth, and IXN & FKX briefly discussed the recent seismic activity in the Spreading Zone in the Sea of Cortez, and Doug & family will soon be off to Monterrey Bay where Doug will investigate sum interesting rocks.  RWU may have been at the OC Fair Booth wid WTQ.  AF6C continues doctoring fer an eye problem, and Bob keeps a close eye on the tomato plants fer tomato worms.  CF hears all OPs but KR6J, and Nicholas said all kitchen appliances are working after upside down knobs were repositioned correctly!  YCJ reminded OPs abt the 1-day ARRL Southwestern Division Convention in Santa Barbara, and HHC said all info is up on the Club website.  FKX tells Kenan that his Starkraft Trailer is Model #13RT, and KR6J has left his job wid Prime Radio Products for another job.   AF6C then aired the July 31 edition of the ARRL Audio News at 21:17 hrs local time…2 more FCC Commissioner seats have been filled…G4FUN program: Participating schools can receive telemetry related to fun projects.  See more in the ARRL Newsletter on ARRL Audio News concluded at 21:37 hrs. local time…Tnx, Bob!


8/12/2009 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in YHX, IXN, WB9YCJ, HC, HHC, and VEN.  AF6C called the Net fer check-ins wid no din-din yet…Bob was out walking.  YHX may be getting a new tower, and Corey has been busy sending out QSL cards.  YCJ said that the Orange County Fair Booth was a good public relations event fer ham radio, and Ken is thinking abt the 2 hr drive up to the Santa Barbara ARRL SW Div. Convention this weekend.  AF6C will go under the ‘eye knife’ once agn in early September, and Bob had a ARRL Audio News on the laptop fer the 2m Net.  HHC told OPs that attendance at the OC Fair was a ’lil better than last year, and Ken has all the tools for badge making…He will check wid AF6C about laminating the badges.  HC said the OC Fair Booth could have been a little more tourist friendly, wid a few more activities, and Arnie enjoyed working at the Booth…HC might wear his K4M Midway Island DXpedition shirt at next Club meeting.  IXN is still not completely pleased wid the way the rig is performing, and VEN will check out the ARRL Convention in SB for a Heil mike.


8/12/2009 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/IXN checked in YHX, HHC, ACJ, WB9YCJ, AF6C, VEN, CF, KI6RUW(Bruce).  YHX will finish the balun for his seismic ant. to hear San Sevaine seismometer.  YCJ reminds all OPs abt the SB ARRL SW. Div. Convention come Saturday as he thinks abt the price of gas, and, abt asking the boss fer the day off!  HHC told IXN to check out the DX Store for a mike cord to match his rig wid a Heil mike.  AF6C told OPs abt his delicious vine ripe tomatoes as he prepared the ARRL Audio News to air later in the Net.   VEN has a Kenwood MC60A, and Phil will be checking out Heil mikes.  HHC told CF that the Club History Series is completed, and Nicholas and IXN plan to attend the OCA meeting at Chapman Univ. come Fri. eve.  AF6C has temporarily suspended technical articles in ‘RF’ until eye repairs are completed.   AF6C then aired the ARRL Audio News for Aug. 7…93 teachers in 21 states will carry Wireless Technology back into their classrooms from courses completed this summer…The FCC now has its full compliment of 5 commissioners…For much more info, check out the ARRL Letter at…The ARRL Audio News aired at 21:23 hrs and completed at 21:43 hrs local time…TNX Bob!


8/19/2009 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in CCD, IXN, HC, and HHC.  CCD’s garden is doing FB, but so is the grass and weeds!...And Tom found a cold solder joint on a relay in the TS-140.  IXN’s flowers are slowly dying in the early Fall WX, and Bob has 2 dental appts. Two days in a row next week.  CCD gets the din-din call, and HC warns OPs to get the H1N1 flu shot, and Arnie also attended the ARRL SW Div. Convention in SB last Saturday where he saw some interesting ‘Boat Anchors’.  HHC got bk frm his evening walk wid Diane. Ken is moving to the breadboard stage wid the digital ATV project. Ken (the apprentice) will have new badges ready by Club meeting Fri. nite.  AF6C said that ARRL cancelled ARRL Audio News fer this week, and Bob has eye surgery scheduled fer Sept. 4.  HC will be wid the Midway Island DXpedition Oct. 9 thru Oct. 19!


8/19/2009 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/IXN checked in GMU, KR6J, YHX, HHC, RWU, and AF6C.  GMU may try to get our to the Aug. Star Party at the Anza Observatory, and Paul said 10m Net sigs were weak tonite.  KR6J started his new job as a sales rep. fer Motorola in 2-way radio communications, and has been busy wid sales meetings.  YHX & IXN will discuss things seismic at Club meeting come Fri. nite, and Corey will pick up a 20 ft. section of patch cable too.  HHC said that El Presidente, Nicholas, is off on another trip to South America, and Ken will experiment wid digital ATV first wid a walloping 1 mw on 2 GHz sig!  RWU plans to attend Fri. Club meeting, and Dave worked the East Coast on his HF Inverted V.  AF6C is busy getting QSL cards organized frm Field Day, and Bob plans to buy an IPOD Classic soon, then he’ll try to repair the old IPOD!


8/26/2009 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in YHX, LDC, HHC, HC, WB9YCJ, NOL, IXN, and VEN.   Great check-in, OPs!  YHX has been spending sum time cleaning up a microphone, and, completing his ant. to hear the San Sevaine Seismometer.  Wid the knee operation over and resulting phlebitis out of the way, LDC is glad to be back on the air. …of course, the Morro Bay trip had to be cancelled.  Wid the hot WX, HHC praised the air conditioning, and Ken has Corey’s cable ready fer delivery as he looks forward to many birthdays, anniversaries, etc., coming up.  HC kicked bk and enjoyed Club meeting last Fri. eve., and now Arnie is waiting fer a break in the scorching WX!  Ken-YCJ mentioned 2 new transceivers from Japan, and Ken said that Carl Gardenias has info. on the LA County Fair ham activities.  NOL hopes to meet N6OX at the Sept. Club meeting, and IXN will be in the San Jacinto Mts. during the Sept. 9 Net.  VEN enjoyed lunch wid Club OPs, and Phil, using a 850-S, wants to no more abt the new rig replacing the TS-570.


8/26/2009 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/IXN checked in NOL, KR6J, WB9YCJ, AF6CF, HHC, AF6C, and YHX.   NOL said SA Unified received $375 million to renovate 8 schools!...Richard, in the ITC Dept. for the District, will be busy wid the crew installing new computers, voice over IT, and much wiring in the renovated schools.   KR6J is busily involved wid Motorola learning WiFi, Canopy, and other wireless technology that he will deal wd in the new job.   YCJ said that EICOM & KENWOOD each introduced a new transceiver at the Tokyo Ham Fair, and, Ken said that the LA Fair will have a ham booth.  “el Presidente”, CF, was happy to be back from a business trip in Central America. HHC said that he and Diane, recovering nicely frm recent surgery, forsook the evening walk in favor of completing sum house chores.  A critter has been eating AF6C’s tomatoes…Maybe it’s that baby possum Bob found under the car! Bob & PFA will be off to the Braille Institute tomorrow to repair some more talking books.  YHX & IXN briefly discussed Corey’s new beam ant. to receive seismic signals from San Sevaine Seismometer.  AF6C then aired ARRL Audio News for Aug. 21 at 21:07 hrs local time…ARES hams were called by law enforcement and fire fighters to provide fire services and animal evacuations in the Santa Cruz Mts. fires…Radio clubs provide the bulk of amateur radio education, and, The FCC is now ‘twittering’!...ARRL Audio News concluded at 21:27 hrs. local time…Tnx, Bob!
