5/05/2010 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in N6HC, WB6IXN, and WB9YCJ. OPs viewed pix sent by HHC showing 50 lbs+ of jasmine bush growing up the coax!  HC updated OPs on Mike’s antenna project, and Arnie also gave a quick rundown of the Visalia DX Convention.  YCJ made out like a bandit wid free airfare and hotel accomodations to the Dayton Hamvention.  IXN said that there might be a new hidden cross-fault located between Mt. Laguna and the Coyote Creek Fault, linking activity on the East Elsinore Fault branch to the San Jacinto Fault System. HC told OPs take a train to Union Station and then the Dodger Shuttle Bus to Dodger Stadium to attend Dodger games…That’s the easy way!  AF6C gave a gud report to HC and IXN on his eye adventures wid the medics.

 

5/05/2010 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in KI6ESQ(Scott), AF6C, and W6HHC.   IXN suggested that HHC send his ‘Jasmine on the Coax’ pix to QST Magazine!  ESQ, Scott, in S. Pasadena, had 5/9 sigs at NC’s QTH using a YAESU FT1900 and a Diamond 2m/440 vertical.  AF6C warned HHC to watch out fer Diane’s green thumb and the jasmine bush when Ken re-routes the coax to the VHF antenna.  AF6C repeated HC’s info on Mike’s ant. project, saying that the 15m & 17m sections are not yet tuned…And AF6C is looking fer an OP wid a table saw to do sum precise wood cutting.   HHC said that he and his fellow company executives bought each of their employees a new IPOD!...And Ken said that the OPD placed 41st out of 250 teams in B2V!  Then AF6C flew away to take a call from Bruce, KC6DLA, abt repairing talking books fer the Braille Institute.  After Net, Craig, N6RSX, an attorney, in Brea, called W6ZE.  WB6IXN and RSX had a vy gud QSO!  Craig is a ham satellite (AMSAT) enthusiast who is also interested in space oriented subjects including astronomy.  Craig has offered to speak to OCARC on operating earth orbiting satellites with a possible demonstration!...Craig can be contacted at:  dcfox@rwglaw.com

 

5/12/2010 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in WB6IXN, WB9YCJ, W6HHC, AF6CF, N6HC, KC6ACT, and W6HK(Ken).  AF6C said there is Club interest in attending a future Angel game, and Bob said that dropping glasses were stopped wid a retainer cord attached to the stems, cord gets caught, Bob rips stem off glasses!  IXN said that the Colorado River Delta is the only natural dam that keeps the Sea of Cortez from flooding the Imperial Valley, and HHC told YCJ to take his ‘tornado hat’ when he attends the Dayton Hamvention!  All OPs experienced high QRN, and IXN cudn’t hear CF.  ACT heard AF6C on both lower & upper sidebands tonite, snf HK talked abt racing.  HC updated OPs on Mike’s antenna, wid Mike placing a 2nd order for errant parts.  YCJ will leave Thursday morning for Dayton.  HHC got back on the air after Jasmine bush removal from the feedline.

 

5/12/2010 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in K6VDP, AF6CF, W6FKX, KR6J, AF6C, and W6HHC.  VDP will miss the OCWN Sunday CW Net…Larry will be at the Arizona QTH.  CF, wid high QRN on 10m tonite, is enjoying gud sigs on 2m.  Back from Death Valley, FKX will be off on a geology trip to Anza Borrego State Park come Saturday…IXN & FKX briefly discussed the Colorado River Delta which separates the Sea of Cortez from the Imperial Valley.  HHC alerted AF6C to a frequency shift problem in the VHF rig on 10m, and Bob got the AEA Antenna Complex Impedance Analyzer (a retirement present?) working.  KR6J ‘flew in and flew out’.  HHC asked VDP to get a list of equipment to be sold, up on the website to give Club members 1st chance to purchase it…Equipment will be stored at Kristan’s QTH.  AF6C will have further eye surgery in the near future.

 

5/19/2010 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in WB6IXN, and W6HHC.  AF6C spent some time in the doctor’s office today, mentioned that the bouganville bush is growing back big time, and tells IXN that his sigs are OK.  IXN checked in wid weak sigs showing on the ant. tuner…Slight adjustments removed the problem.  HHC noted that IXN’s sigs were weaker tonite!...And HHC was busy experimenting wid DATV tonite.  If AF6CF tried to check in, OPs cud not pull him out of the QRN!

 

5/19/2010 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in K6VDP, N8UZE(Dee), W6HHC, AF6C, and KR6J.  VDP has donated Silent Keys gear to the Club to be sold to Club members first, and then opened to the ham public for disposal.  The gear will be stored at Kristin’s QTH…More info available at Club meeting Fri. Eve…And Larry works the West Coast on 2m using the K6JFI Repeater System…And VDP also worked 3 FISTS on 40m.  N8UZE, Dee, checked into Net, being in So. CA. for at least 6 months…Using 40W into a roll up j-pole, most OPs cud not hear Dee’s sigs!...Dee was located at Baranca  Redhill, and expressed an interest in attending Field Day!  HHC was using the HT fer check-in tonite.  The 2 meter rig was tied up wid the ongoing DATV experiment…Ken cud not hear Dee on the HT tonite.  VDP told AF6C to set prices on Silent Key gear to be sold from the Club Webpage, etc.  IXN is still waiting for new eyeglasses.  KR6J was involved in a bike crash during a recent race!...After flying over the handlebars, Kenan ended up wid a few scrapes on his right hand and on his head…KR6J checked in frm the OCEOC RACES Drill on Loma Ridge.

 

5/26/2010 10M Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in W6HHC, WB6IXN, WB9YCJ, and KE6WYM.  HHC still notices weird squiggles on AF6C’s wave pattern, and Ken prepares to put YCJ’s pix from the Dayton Hamvention up on the Club website. IXN has steady S7 sigs on AF6C Q5 the whole way. And Bob announces that the gravitational relativity theory seems to pervade the Universe as far as we can see.  AF6C says Club generator must be checked out fer Field Day soon, and Bob said that the ARRL Audio News will soon be back in session.  YCJ got back from the Dayton Hamvention wid great pix of equipment, etc., and Ken just got back from an Angels vs Blue Jays game…The Angels won!   YCJ will help wid Field Day…Then Ken was off to bed before night shift at work!  WYM asked OPs to listen to sigs from 2 antennas…IXN had S8 sigs from both antennas.

 

5/26/2010 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in W6HHC, N1AB, K6VDP, KR6J, KF6EVX, and W6FKX.  IXN & EVX briefly discussed ARISS contacts, and HHC has selected pictures from YCJ’s trip to the Dayton Hamvention to be placed in the ‘RF’ Newsletter on the Club website…The May ‘RF’ contains info on Field Day operations.  N1AB & KR6J ‘flew in and flew out’, and VDP said that we need CW operators for Field Day…VDP will be in AZ next week, but will be back in time to vote.   FKX enjoyed the SCE program on safety around high power lines last Fri. eve., and, a recent outing with the National Geological Society.
