12/07/2011 10m Phone Net – There was no formal net tonite.  WB6IXN and W6HHC talked briefly and Ken reminded OPs about the Club Christmas Party Friday eve…Cameraderie, fun, excellent food, and good prizes await those who attend!

12/7/2011 2m Phone Net W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in K6DNR, N8AE, W6HHC, KJ6LHA, and KC6OML.  With the Christmas Party Friday eve and Christmas shopping, the Net check-ins were scarce tonite! DNR checked in after the RACES Net, and Bob’s QTH is in turmoil with his son making repairs to the QTH.  IXN told AE that the vertical antenna at the QTH withstood the Santa Ana winds, and Carl captured a pix of a bobcat at Santiago Oaks Park…HHC asked AE to forward a picture to him of the bobcat.  HHC also announced over 50 attendees registered for the Christmas Party Friday eve.  K7JA and XYL will miss the Christmas Party…they are in Micronesia! LHA, back from a trip, is ready fer Christmas, and OML & XYL are looking forward to the Christmas Party.  IXN found it more profitable to buy a new combined hot & cold water kitchen faucet rather than pay ½ the price of a new faucet for hot and cold water replacement cartridges.

 

12/14/2011 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in W6JTT, KE6YHX, W6HHC, K6DNR, WB6IXN, and N8AE.  AF6C, YHX, DNR, and JTT briefly discussed soldering irons, and, we congratulate AE, and UZE on receiving the ‘Good of the Club’ Award at the Christmas Dinner for rendering assistance to Club OPs, and, participating in Club events during 2011.  HHC said the new International DATV Transmitter Boards are done and are now in England having software installed.  IXN turned on the rig, noise, but no audio…Don’t know what happened, but, 10 minutes later…AUDIO!  DNR has a old high heat soldering iron he uses for soldering connectors to feedlines, and AF6C challenges OPs to solve a puzzle listed in the Dec. Newsletter! AE interviewed for a new job today, and, all OPs who attended the Christmas enjoyed good food and a good time!

12/14/2011 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/IXN checked in KE6YHX, N8AE, AF6C, W6JTT, K6DNR, KR6J/m, and KJ6OML.  AE, Carl, will be NC for the 2m Net Dec. 21, and YHX will NC the 2m Net Dec. 28…IXN & Lee will be up in the San Jacinto Mts.  AE & UZE were surprised and pleased having unanimously received the ‘Good of the Club’ Award at the Christmas Dinner.  AF6C again challenges OPs to solve the interesting puzzle in the Dec. Newsletter, and, Bob got his sister back safely to her home near Boston.   Bob also announced the death of Ida Yamachika, wife of Kei Yamachika, W6NGO, a founder of the OCARC back in the 1930's…Ida was a monetary contributor to the Club ever since Kei became a Silent Key!  DNR, with most Christmas shopping done, has been in school since August, and, KR6J joined us mobile before reaching a base station rig…Kenan is working for his Electrical Engineering Certificate, which AE and Kenan continued to discuss after Net.  OML is busy painting rooms at the QTH.  Sam, JTT, ‘flew in and flew out’!

 

12/21/2011 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in W9YCJ, WB6IXN, W6HHC, KE6YHX, N8AE, KR6J, K6DNR, W6HTW, and KB6KPK.  YCJ, his usual night off, will soon leave for chores, and we’ll see less of Ken at Club meetings now that he is back working nights!  IXN & Lee are off to the San Jacinto  Mts. And will be back New Years nite.  When HHC checked in, the Ken & Bobs were even…Ken warned of High Santa Ana Winds tomorrow and said the Club books are ready for audit.  YHX, out buying presents during the Club Christmas Dinner, has the Christmas tree up & trimmed, and, AF6C & HHC attended Ida Yamachika’s funeral, meeting most of Kei’s family…Kei, W6NGO, well liked by older Club members, and a great asset to the Club, is greatly missed.  His XYL, Ida, was also a monetary contributor to the Club for years!  N8AE and Dee, UZE, will be off to Michigan early tomorrow, and, Carl signed to find a hilltop in the foothills from which to run the 2m Net tonite.  KR6J, .working on computers, checked in wid weak sigs but improved sigs as the Net proceeded.  DNR, working on the computer, and wid Christmas lights QRN, had weaker sigs tonite.  HTW, into Net from La Habra Heights, was erasing his email list…Merry Christmas all!  KPK, now back to work, will not be on the air as much…He gets up vy early in the morning!

12/21/2011 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/N8AE checked in W6HHC, K6DNR, AF6C, W6JTT, KR6J, WB6IXN, KJ6LHA, KE6YHX, KG6WTQ, and W9YCJ.  N8AE/m conducted the Net from a location in Crawford Canyon and was able to hear all OPs well!  Carl & Dee are off to Michigan for Christmas. HHC & Diane will have the family in for Christmas.   AF6C in Orange and DNR in Westminster both report strong sigs from NC.  IXN reported no strong winds in the San Gabriel Mts…YET!  JTT, asking if any OPs have heard anything about military frequency conversions, is off to Idyllwild for Christmas, and KR6J, wid school done, is doing some computer building while looking into 2 job opportunities.  LHA checked in and then Steve was off to din-din!  WTQ ‘flew in and flew out’, and YHX picked up a new Halloween CD…Incidentally, Corey’s birthday is the 1st day after Halloween.  Ken, YCJ, checked in wid strong sigs at Net’s end.

 

12/28/2011 10m Net – With AF6C busy on the landline during the Jan4 Net, no Dec. 28, 2011 Net roll call was reported to WB6IXN.

12/28/2011 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/KE6YHX checked in AF6CF, KJ6LHA, W6GMU, AF6C, W6HHC, and K6DNR.  IXN & Lee were up in the San Jacinto Mts, and, OPs enjoyed a gud Christmas with family!
