11/07/2012 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in W6UX, WB6IXN, N6HC, and KE6YHX.  UX got back on the Net after transfer to a new job and a very busy time…Jeff will be at the Club Bfast come Saturday.  IXN had a TIA in the restaurant last Thurs. eve., but CAT scan showed no further damage.  AF6C uploaded 2009-2011 Field Day logs to Log Book of the World…Congrats, Bob, said N6HC & OPs!!...And Arnie was glad to hear UX back on the Net, and, HC wished IXN well in the weeks ahead.  YHX & AF6C discussed using ‘X-code’, a programming code for computers.   AF6C, HC, and UX discussed an amplifier.

 

11/07/2012 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in AF6C, KE6YHX, W6JTT, KJ6LHA, KJ6UJA, KJ6OML, AF6CF, and, N6NBV.  AF6C’s sister experienced superstorm Sandy twice…She had benn vacationing in Florida in the swamps and came home just at the right time!  AF6CF & HHC are working on the Board of Directors for OCARC for 2013, and IXN & Lee gave out 3 huge bags of candy for Halloween.  YHX successfully stitched the leather in the Darth Vader costume for Halloween, and JTT is working on damaged antennas on the QTH in the San Jacinto Mts. near Idyllwild.  LHA & UJA were working on the web wid one ear on the Net, and AF6CF attended his brother’s Halloween block party, and, heard an interesting speaker at last Astronomy Club meeting.  NBV said 10m was ‘really poppin’ on Halloween!

 

11/14/12 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in W6JTT, WB6IXN, W6HHC, N6HC, KJ6OML, K6DNR, and KE6YHX.  AF6C has two rigs to give to needy Club members, and Bob is not impressed wid digital magazines.  IXN finds hard copy magazines better the whole way around!   IXN has a colonoscopy esophagus stretching scheduled for after Thanksgving.  And all OPs are looking for HC’s NH8S DXpedition talk come Club meeting Friday eve.  Also, a QST write-up on the T32C DXpedition shows N6HC wid a big tuna fish on p.57 of Dec. QST…OPs donated their catch to the islanders.  HC & OPs thank AF6C for uploading Field Day Logs to Log Book of the World, and, OML & AF6C clean off the Talking Book shelf of machines at Braille Institute today. HHC says some iPads are reported to be crashing when they download the digital QST magazine, but Ken has no trouble downloading QST magazine on the computer.  DNR, wid high QRN, has armchair copy on Net Control.  JTT is off to Idyllwild for TG, and Sam will try to check into Net from there.  YHX will start a new Log Book.

 

11/14/12 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in KE6YHX, KJ6OML, W6HHC, W6JTT, and KJ6LHA.  LHA ‘flew in and flew out’, and YHX has a calculus test tomorrow, but still finds time to play wid a new infrared remote control.  HHC and the Club gives thanks to AF6C, DLA(Bruce), and KJ6OML for contributing there time and skills to repair Talking Books for Braille Institute.  Ken HHC reminds all OPs to come hear Arnie-N6HC’s DXpedition talk on Friday Eve.   JTT, up at the 6000 ft level in Idyllwild, will try to check into Net next week.

 

11/21/2012 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in KE6YHX, N6HC, W6JTT, WB6IXN, W6HHC, N6NBV, and KJ6OML.  JTT is off to Idyllwild for TG, and IXN & Lee are off to Garner Valley not far from JTT.  IXN & YHX will probably not be at the Club Christmas dinner this year, and HC & XYL will have a small turkey and an intimate TG dinner together…Arnie’s excellent illustrated talk on the 2012 NH8S DXpedition to Swains Island was well received at last Friday’s OCARC meeting and we appreciate the time, effort, expense, and devotion to amateur radio shown by these DXpedition OPs!  AF6C will give one of the donated rigs to Clem.  NBV ‘flew in and flew out’, and OML, AF6C, and DLA, cleared off the repair shelf at Braille Institute today…(Tnx, guys!) HHC, getting a whiff of Diane’s baking pumpkin pies, continues to work wid the DATV group on an RF circuit board.

 

11/21/2012 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in KE6YHX, KJ6OML, W6HHC, AF6C, N6NBV, KJ6LHA & KJ6UJA, K6TDI(Terry), and N6ZQF(Bob).  YHX is ready fer turkey day, and Corey must pick up a new log book.  HHC hears TDI in Riverside well, and Ken asks AF6C to forward pictures of HC’s T32C talk at last Club meeting.  AF6C confirmed gud sigs fer ZQF at the QTH, and every running toilet in Bob’s QTH has now been repaired!  AF6C reminded all to RSVP for the Club Christmas Party as soon as possible, info on the Club website.  NBV has a new magnetic loop antenna up 30 ft.  LHA and UJA are off to the daughter’s home in HB for TG, and ZQF is back home from a trip down south visiting family.  IXN and Lee will leave at 5 am tomorrow morning to TG wid the niece and her husband in the San Jacinto Mts.

 

11/28/2012 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in K6CCD, W6IXN, W6JTT, W6HHC, KE6YHX, KJ6OML, and N6HC.  CCD TG’d wid three fer din-din, and IXN had potty call in prep for a colonoscopy tomorrow.   JTT, wid two radios working, had slightly weak sigs at IXN’s QTH, and HHC said there will be baskets for the ladies at the Club Christmas dinner and prizes to be raffled off to dinner participants…Ken said AF6CF, Nicholas, is 2013 Club President, wid Tim Goeppinger, N6GP, as Vice President.   HHC also mentioned the upcoming 80th anniversary of the OCARC next year, and Ken said Robbie is working hard on the January Club program.  YHX will rest up over the holiday, and OML, AF6C, and DLA cleared the work shelf at Braille Institute today.   HC, kicked back listening to the Net, had a quiet TG dinner wid the XYL for TG.

 

11/28/2012 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in KE6YHX, W6JTT, KJ6OML, N6NBV, W6NQD(Jason), Bob, AF6C, KJ6LHA, KJ6UJA, K6DNR, and W6GMU.  JTT tried to check into Net last Wed. from Idylwild but was unsuccessful.   OML continues minor work on his antennas, and NBV & Jason, NQD, are friends…NBV put up a new, hot antenna for DX (worked Phillipines, Alaska, and Phillipines, to name a few!)  AF6C went to a friend’s house fer TG, and Bob and IXN think OML is a bit soft spoken on the air…AF6C plans to attend the Club Christmas dinner.  LHA, and UJA visit Ping’s daughter on TG.  DNR visits his son in Mission Viejo…Bob doesn’t like turkey so he feasts on the trimmings!  CMU…TG?...Been there, done that!   Paul TGs wid friends, plans to attend the Christmas dinner, and is looking forward to an outstanding Field Day next year!
