W6ZE/KE6YHX checked in WB6IXN and W6JTT. AF6C and HHC were auditing the Club books this evening so YHX took over NC duties. Still looks like most OPs were busy or not over the holidays yet! YHX & IXN must continue to water their lawns as there appears to be no rain in the future. JTT is back from 2 weeks in Idyllwild where he continued work on the rental. IXN said seismic activity in the middle U.S. seems to be moving our way.
W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in KE6YHX, W6ATB, W6JTT, KB1VZR(Dave), KB6WHV(David), and K6JER(Jeremy). YHX used computer and rig on 2m tonite wid great success…5/9 sigs the whole way! ATB is recuperating from a bad head cold, resting, but continuing work on the Moseley antenna. JTT ran into a make-shift job on a water line at the rental in Idyllwild…Seems that the former owners used plastic pipe, electrical conduit and aluminum pipe, etc., or very imaginative plumbing to carry water from one place to another…Ofcourse, it FAILED and Sam had to replace it! We welcomed Dave, KB1VZR, in Anaheim, to the Net…Dave just recently moved West. And we ere glad to check in KB6WHV, Dave, in Northridge…David’s XYL is W7FSH! We were also glad to check in Jeremy, K6JER, in Mission Viejo.
W6ZE/AF6C checked in KE6YHX, W6HK, WØMEC, WB6IXN, W6JTT, KJ6JKA, and W6HHC. Corey has 5/9 sigs but he has his old speaker leads feedback problem back. HK, wid S3 sigs at IXN’s QTH, voiced our need for rain. MEC was down in the QRN wid the strong winds tonite, and JTT cud not be heard at AF6C’s QTH, but Sam had 5/9 sigs at IXN’s QTH. JKA,s kTS440S was heard well at NC’s QTH but not too well at IXN’s QTH wid the QRN created by the SA Winds! AF66C won the new rig at the Christmas party and traded it in for a new IC-7600 which is doing a FB job on the air tonite!...Bob reminded all to attend Club meeting this Friday…Art Goddard is speaking! JTT is only copying MEC well tonite, and HHC has some idle time on his hands since retiring…(Ed: That won’t last for long, Ken!)…And Ken and Diane will soon be off for some gambling in the near future.
W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in KE6YHX, W6JTT, KJ6JKA, K6TKA (Jack), and KE6UH(Brian). Corey will tackle integral calculus next term at school and JTT awaits new antenna parts for the QTH in GG and up in the mountains. IXN noted that Comet ISON got too close to the sun and went ‘POOF’! Club member JKA lives close to IXN in Santa Ana and was using an Alinco rig tonite, and, Jack, TKA, in Mission Viejo, was first a ham back in 1957. UH, Brian, in Mission Viejo, after putting the kids to bed, had gud 5/9 sigs in Santa Ana tonite.
W6ZE/AF6C checked in KJ6OML, WB6IXN, KE6YHX, W6JTT, KJ6JKA, and W6ATB. OML fell victim to a Cold bug over the weekend so no Braille Institute today! AF6C asked IXN to check Christmas Party locations and addresses for 1982-83. And IXN said that the Club evidently didn’t publish many RFs in 1982… difficulty finding editors! 10m had high QRN at IXN’s QTH, and, OML had to relay for JTT. YHX delves into the interesting study of trigonometry as background for calculus. IXN missed JKA’s report…Mother nature called! ATB was fighting a respiratory infection!
W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in KE6YHX, KF6EVX, W6JTT, AF6C, KJ6OML, KB1VZR(Dave), KG6UH, W6UX, KK6FYG(Mike), KJ6JKA, and KG6WTQ. Hope that YHX heard Mike, FYG, over in Rialto near the Cajon Pass…That’s a gud seismic area, Corey! EVX announced the upcoming Tennis Tournament that needs volunteer OPs…Check out www.w6ze.org for more info. JTT continues work on 6 and 10m antennas both the QTH and mountain QTH. AF6C continues to learn the ‘bells & whistles’ of the new EICOM 7600 rig, and, we hope Gene doesn’t give his cold bug to UG! Just arrived VZR, Dave, is from the Boston area so AF6C and Dave will have much to talk about!...Dave will soon be putting up a G5RV antenna. IXN & FYG(Mike) discussed a recent EQ that shook FYG’s QTH pretty good! IXN enjoyed the eyeball QSO wid UH, Brian, at last Club meeting. IXN has trouble hearing JKA on 10m, but no problem wid his 5/9 sigs on 2m! UX is learning the ‘ins and outs’ of a new computer as Jeff continues work on a mobile installation. WTQ, Robert, checked in wid gud sigs as usual.
W6ZE/AF6C checked in WØMEC, KJ6OML, WB6IXN, KE6YHX, W6ATB, and W6HHC. AF6C & MEC, operating QRP, briefly discuss computer boards. And AF6C said that N6HC was operating wid the Amsterdam Is. DXpedition on 20 and 30m. OML hopes to be at Braille Institute next week, and AF6C and DLA serviced Talking Book machines at Braille Institute today…TNX guys! YHX was experiencing a slight stomach upset, and, IXN still has not solved his ‘dizzy spells’ problem. ATB isn’t doing much DX these days, but that will change in the future!...Greg has been busy at the shop lately. HHC finds not worrying abt vacation days a great plus in retirement! And Ken’s DATV computer group are still working on coding for a computer board.
W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in KJ6OML, KE6YHX, KB6WHV, KJ6OXD, and K6DNR. DNR ‘flew in and flew out’, and OML has stopped most of sinus drainage into his throat and expects to join the crew at Braille Institute next week. OPs said IXN’s 10m sigs seem weaker, and, KB6WHV(David), in Northridge, back from a 3-week vacation, used an HT for communications, and OXD enjoyed an Orange County RACES meeting recently. IXN forgot to ask YHX if he cud hear WHV up in Northridge.
