Due to the ongoing Covid pandemic (Remember: "It will be over by Easter"?) the Holiday dinner was canceled. Instead we met informally online. Here is a partial agenda:

John Miller - K6MM was our guest speaker in November, filling in for the postponed auction. John was one of the operators during the 2016 KP5 Palmyra Atoll DX-pedition. He gave an interesting presentation, starting with history of Palmyra and the numerous tragic events that unfolded, and on to the planning and operations during the 2016 DX-pedition
If you're interested in a bit of Palmyra history you may want to read Vincent Bugliosi's book And the Sea Will Tell. The book talks of intrigue and murder on the Palmyra Atoll around the time of the KP6PA DX-pedition. The crew of that 1974 DX-pedition found themselves witnesses in a murder investigation. The crew included Jim Rafferty - N6RJ (then WA9UCE/6) former manager of HRO in Anaheim.
Coro Navirus insists the annual club auction be postponed. The current tentative date has moved until February 2021.

With Covid-19 still creating havoc around the world, in August QSO Today offered the first virtual ham expo. This ARRL sanctioned event was free. You accessed it via your computer, tablet or smartphone. The expo featured 70+ guest speakers, a registration of over 26,000 and an attendance of over 14,000. All who registered may view the talks and exhibitor booths online through September 9th.
The Expo went off very well. For such a large undertaking there were few glitches and the talks were well attended. QSO Today is planning another virtual Ham Expo for March 13 - 14, 2021.
Michael Rickey - AF6FB gave a presentation on Digital Mobile Radio (DMR).
The 2020 ARRL ARRL Field Day was held June 27th and 28th. Due to the novel corona pandemic that was sweeping the world at the time, the ARRL changed the Field Day rules for 2020. Members can operated from home and scores pooled for the club score.
Tim Goeppinger - N6GP and Chip Margelli - K7JA talked on different aspects of Field day. Tim showed us the software setup for Field Day logging. Chip discussed Field Day operating and gave us some encouragement.

The key to the antenna is a 49-to-1 RF transformer that converts 50Ω to the high impedance needed to match a half wavelength sloper antenna.
The meeting was canceled, as required by the county and state, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Keep in touch with the club on our website and nets.
