3/02/2005 10m Phone Net - W6ZE/AF6C checked in IXN.  There must have been something really special on the ‘boob’ tube, for only IXN answered the call fer Net check-ins!  IXN and AF6C discussed relativistic frame dragging, aching hips and pulled muscles, a new wireless mouse that AF6C picked up fer the computer, a retired luncheon that AF6C enjoyed wid other Boeing retired co-workers, and sum DX, including Cook Is., VKs, ZLs, Guadal Canal, and JAs on Monday on 10, 15, & 20m, garnered by AF6C.

 

3/02/05 2m Phone Net - W6ZE/IXN checked in JD, AF6C, BWH/m, KFW, WTQ & MPW.  JD is looking forward to a gud Club turnout fer the upcoming Sat. Bfast.  And AF6C is enjoying a FB crop of tangerines frm the backyard, pulled out a tub of weeds frm othe lower 40, enjoyed a luncheon wid other retired Boeing employees, including Ross, N6GGD, one of the flight test guys, and primed & painted a little bench.  KFW & IXN discussed the 25 deg. WX bk in PA & Ohio, and Chris said that Mile Square Park turned into a swamp during the big rains!  Upon returning to the QTH, BWH aired Newsline File #1437.  We heard news abt a 60m ham band, that San Diego will have BPL by June 2005, and Chicago is considering antenna height limits!…KG6IRO’s license has been re-issued by the FCC!…Tnx, Bob! WTQ & MPW checked in, and WTQ told AF6C that he had received his badge.

 

3/06/2005 OCWN 40m CW Net – NCS/UEB checked in IMW/6, IB/6, KFW, HKT, RND, CW, OIO, FU, IXN, KA6G, NT, and VDP.  UEB, in heavy traffic Saturday afternoon, went to LA to pick up some books at the OpAmp bookstore, and IMW and VDP had a FB visit wid NT on Goat Hill, where they viewed the famous DX antenna!  IB participated in a VE session, helping to make 4 new hams…And one non-ham took Extra Class, including CW, in one shot!…Some feat!  KFW is looking forward to a sunny week, and next Sunday, HKT will be on the Mojave Road that runs from the Colorado River to Yermo, near Barstow.  RND, enjoying the sunny morning, was busy playing gigs last week…Not too much hamming!  CW told OPs that W6MTC is planning a FISTS/MTC special events station during the Fullerton Railroad Days on May 7 and 8, frm 9 AM to 5 PM.  OIO is still waiting fer the garden to dry out…Ann expects a late spring planting this year!  FU ‘flew in and flew out’, and IXN gave NCS N8WP’s E-mail adr so that Rick can contact Willy abt the Clipperton Island DXpedition tape.  KA6G, thinking that he had missed his turn for check-in, gave NCS a 589 sig rpt, and NT said that Ian and Larry didn’t take enuf goodies during their visit yesterday…HI!…But Ray sure enjoyed their visit!  VDP, enjoying a sunny day, said that NT still has lots of stuff left!

 

3/09/2005 10m Phone Net - W6ZE/AF6C checked in CCD, IXN, and HHC.  CCD filled trash barrels with weeds, made a few contacts in the VHS Contest, and is assembling a computer.  AF6C is fighting off a bug, Bob woke up wid chills!  And AF6C told IXN abt Internet fraud sites to check out E-mails.  HHC is down to the last article in ‘RF’, and Ken told OPs abt the Mammoth ski trip on a 20 ft snow base!  Then Ken told us abt a TV mini-series being shot in the Orange Traffic Circle park.  It’s planting time, and IXN has flowers ready to bloom.

 

3/09/2005 2m Phone Net - W6ZE/IXN checked in JD, AF6C, and BWH.  JD told OPs that a TV Pilot progam is being shot in the Orange Circle, abt a gal that can see into the future!…They have covered the old fountain with statues for background.   AF6C gave a quickie rundown on Boeing CEO ‘life & times’ wid hanky-panky, and Bob is working on his income tax, and he watched Dan Rather’s last newscast.  BWH was mobile on the freeway some distance up north, wid gud sigs thru a ’lil white noise.  IXN has his taxes all done and sent in, and hopes he didn’t make any mistakes!

 

3/16/2005 10m Phone Net - W6ZE/AF6C checked in LDC, IXN, HHC, and CCD.  AF6C, wid no jury duty this week, queiried OPs abt changing the 10m Net to 15m.  LDC, nursing a cold, plans to attend Fri. Club meeting, and Larry had fun riding the dune buggy at an outing wid the motorhome group near Shadow Mt.  AF6C picked up a Heathkit ‘Q’ meter at NT’s QTH, and Bob said that a 40m ant. cud be loaded on 15m…IXN then told LDC that he cud also use his 40m ant. to check into the OCWN on Sun. mornings.  IXN commented on the excellent issue of Mar. ‘RF’, and HHC told OPs that he had fun putting ‘RF’ together wid all the articles submitted!  No 2m Net fer HHC tonite…Ken has a 2m RF demo fer a physics professor tomorrow!  CCD is still busy wid QTH repairs outside…new driveway, new sprinkler system, etc., and OPs told Tom that the rig speech processor is doing FB!   AF6C, IMW, John Roberts, and VDP journeyed to NT’s QTH fer a shack cleanup before Ray moves to Corona del Mar.

 

3/16/2005 2m Phone Net - W6ZE/IXN checked in JD, WTQ, MPW, CCE, AF6C, BWH, MIH, and MIG.  JD said the XYL is soon off to S. Dakota fer a week, and Lowell plans to catch up on sum VHS hamming.  WTQ and MPW checked in and then flipped bk to listen to the rest of the Net.  IXN enjoyed reading CCE’s article on backpacking in the SA Mts. wid WK6O, Mike, in Mar. ‘RF’, and Kenan said he got home late frm work…a co-worker was ill! CCE said that Mike, WK60, is a missionary at near Alamos, Senora state, in Mexico, and Mike can be heard on Sundays on the Christian Missionary Net at 14.319 MHz, and he can be reached by E-mail at: wk6o@yahoo.com …Then CCE discussed oscilloscopes wid AF6C.  BWH expects to make the big move in a month or so, to N. Dakota where he will take over an oil supply business…And Bob, usually on the Super System to operate 80m, has picked up an old Butternut ant. to increase 80m operation flexibility…BWH aired Newsline file #1439 where we learned that the murderers of KD7BWJ and KD7BWK are now in custody awaiting prosecution!  MIH is now an EXTRA!…Congrats, Kevin!  MIG & MIH told OPs that Jared Hunter, KG6WBR, another Handi-ham, also in a wheelchair, needs help to get a rig.  IXN will try to contact John Christopher, NG7D, to see if John might have any leads.

3/20/2005 OCWN 40m CW Net - NCS/UEB checked in IMW/6, GVG, KFW, IC, VDP, OIO, RND, KS6CW, KA6G, NT, and IXN.  Rick an family spent a nice Day yesterday in Anza Borrego State Park picnicing and viewing oceans of wildflowers, and IMW checked in on the ARC-5…What fun!…HI!  GVG, in Bonsall, just got back from field work in central Mexico, and KFW enjoyed a presentation on the AO-51 amateur satellite at the OCARC meeting Fri. eve.   IC is looking forward to setting out sum tomato plants and fertilizing the trees now that the rain has stopped, and VDP enjoyed going thru ‘old stuff’ at NT’s QTH…Now fer a trip to TRW next Saturday!   OIO wants her delivery boy to deliver the Sunday paper before 7:30 am, and Ann told OPs that she was in Garden Grove today.  RND, just ‘a pickin and agrinnin’, had 4 gigs last week!  For you piano lovers, CW heard that Pat Nelson is playing at the HB Public Library at 5 pm…Kathy said that this is the 2nd wettest year recorded in the history of CA!  KA6G’s copy is getting better, and Jim quit before being drowned in local QRN.  NT was invaded by a bunch of hams who carried off sum goodies and raided Ray’s junk box…But Ray still has more to go before he makes the big move!  IXN won’t be around fer Net next Sunday…He and brother, Lee, will be visiting the nephew and his family fer Easter festivities in Garden Grove.

3/23/2005 10m Phone Net - W6ZE/AF6C checked in LDC, IXN, and HHC.  LDC had a gud time at Univeral Studios yesterday, but coming home, Larry experienced heavy rain the whole way!  IXN will soon hve to go to the Doc to see abt his dizzy spells, and Bob told AF6C abt a new hands-on science demonstrations book published and distributed to teachers by Boeing.  HHC completed a 2m demonstration on electromagnetic waves for a physics video tape, finished the final phase of a new dental crown, and Ken goes to a dentist that fishes for tuna off the Clipperton Islands…HHC, soon to be off to Laughlin wid Diane fer sum R&R, went wid PDQ and CCE to visit wid VKZ, where they picked up sum military antenna masts.  And AF6C will be off to Monument Peak wid sum friends a week after Easter.

 

3/23/2005 2m Phone Net - W6ZE/IXN checked in MPW, WTQ, JD, HHC, AF6C, KFW, MIH, MIG, and W6KAT, Don.   MPW kicked back and let WTQ do all the talking.  And JD will clean up a ’lil around the house while the XYL is off visiting her mom and siblings in COLD S. Dakota…Lowell will pick her up at the airport Easter Sunday evening, and they’ll be off to din-din.  HHC cudn’t find the 2m feedline in the maze of wires in the shack, so he used a mobile ant. stuck to the top of the rig fer check-in…Ken and family will be off to his youngest daughter’s QTH fer a cook-out brunch, an Easter egg hunt, and a ‘high stakes’ poker game on Easter!  And our new Extra, MIH, wid dad MIG on the side, checked in after finishing his chemistry homework.  W6KAT, Don, in Whittier, checked in and told OPs that he is a member of the Rio Hondo ARC, in whose Net meets on the Repeater at 146.175 MHz at 8:00pm on Wednesdays…Don also mentioned that he bought a pristine (new/old) KW711-A.   We will undoubtedly hear it on the air in the near future.

 

3/27/2005 OCWN 40m CW Net - NCS/UEB checked in KS6CW (early QNI), HKT, VDP, OIO, IMW/6, RND, NT, and KA6G.  UEB, wid trips to Sacramento ended, hopes to spend more time on the air during the week…And Rick wished all a Happy Easter!  HKT, out of town the last two Sundays, said that ‘ex-ham frm Bell, CA, is showing how helpless the FCC enforcement is…The ‘ex-ham’ is now on a low profile local repeater!  VDP, enjoying the great WX, sold next to an OP that knows HKT at the TRW swap meet…And Larry sold lots of knobs frm NT’s junk box!  OIO, in Barton Flats, spent yesterday working in the yard and garden.  IMW, wid sum work left to do on the ARC-5, overslept yesterday and missed the TRW swapmeet.  RND knows that Spring is here!…He heard birds singing in Ian’s ARC-5…HI!…And John also told UEB that he finished reading ‘The Aviator’, about Howard Hughes, a vy gud book!   NT has two acres of beautiful weeds on The Hill, has 2 three-element beams to give away to an OP or the trash, and Ray got a nice pin in the mail for the last SS thing, this one fer CW mode.  KA6G wished all a Happy Easter, wid most OPs wishing a Happy Easter to the Net.  HKT, in Torrance, cud not cpy IMW/6 in Irvine.

 

3/30/2005 10m Phone Net - W6ZE/AF6C checked in IXN and HHC.  AF6C enjoyed watching the Painted Lady Butterflies on their migratory journey during his afternoon walk, and Bob said that his noisy phone line was OK now.  IXN had a chest x-ray, and will have a carotid artery test and bone density test abt mid April.  Wid two articles in frm PEQ, AF6C has started April ‘RF’…And Bob mentioned something abt a 30m surprise in the Club raffle!?…Hm!  HHC didn’t see AF6C’s Painted Ladies this afternoon, but XYL Diane did!…And Ken said that nets come and go because some OPs are people-oriented while others are not, and, as club memberships change, the nets rise and fall with people-oriented membership…Then HHC was off to dig out a battery charger to charge a portable battery.

 

3/30/2005 2m Phone Net - W6ZE/IXN checked in JD, HHC, AF6C, KFW, and BWH/m.  JD is glad to hve the XYL bk home after a visit wid family up north…Now it’s out to do sum catch-up shopping!  HHC is playing wid visitor counter technology, trying to replace a vy delicate Microsoft Front Page program counter wid a CGI counter, which will be more efficient if Ken can make it work.  Ken said that COAR is shaping up fer the Baker-to-Vegas Run the weekend after Club meeting.  AF6C has a very prolific wild clover growing in the yard which he wishes to eliminate, has a rubber foot missing on his Heathkit Q Meter, and got the signal generator running and calibrated.  KFW and AF6C briefly discussed the frequency range of their signal generators, and Chris said that he & the XYL had a gud time at the daughter’s home on Easter Sunday.  HHC announced the up-coming Club Bfast come Sat. morning, at the Katella Grill at Katella Ave. & State College Blvd.  BWH checked in mobile wid QRN frm the freeways, and upon arrival at the QTH, Bob aired Newsline file #1441…We heard that the FCC is ignoring ARRL petitions concerning New York Ambient’s BPL interference frm their experimental BPL experimental system!…Tnx, Bob!  And BWH said that any Club OP interested in airing Newsline file can pick it up over the Internet at arnewsline.com.
