10m Net – W6ZE/KE6YHX checked in W6JTT, WB6IXN, N6NBV, N6ZQF, W6HHC, and
KR6J. JTT was experiencing terrible QRN
tonite, and Sam had 2 rigs fighting wid each other on the same frequency! IXN and YHX briefly discussed the parameters of the
Costa Rica EQ. It was too hot and humid for
ZQF as Bob bathed himself in cool air from the AC! YHX
had the air conditioner set too low yesterday. HHC
said the VK3RTV DATV QSO Party program went well wid OPs checking in from all around the
world (using SKYPE to leap across the oceam)! Ken
& Diane will soon be off on vacation to France. IXN
said we were competing wid the Democratic Convention and HHC said we were also competing
wid the NY Giants vs the Dallas Cowboys football game! KR6J,
home from a visit wid his Dad, ‘flew in and flew out’ for din-din.

– W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in KJ6LHA, KJ6UJA, KR6J/m, KE6YHX, W6JTT, N6ZQF, N6NBV,
KJ6UFS(Fran), and KG6OXD/m. LHA was trying to
keep cool while UJA was busy wid din-din. KR6J
‘flew in and flew out’ but came back to us later…Kenan is continuing his
communications studies. JTT, trying to stay
cool, was breaking up a wee bit at IXN’s QTH tonite.
ZQF is back from a visit wid his daughter, and NBV emailed IXN pictures of
the Buddipole Antenna set up in a parking lot. KG6OXD,
Vern, checked in mobile and IXN had ear trouble copying Vern tonite. Fran, KJ6UFS, checked into Net from northeast Santa
Ana. YHX and IXN briefly discussed the 7.6
Costa Rica EQ.

– W6ZE/AF6C checked in N6AE, N8UZE, KE6YHX, WB6IXN, W6JTT, N6NBV, KJ6NGF, K6DNR, and
KI6OML. AF6C thanked YHX for assuming NC
duties last week, and, Bob said that W6ZE is officially on ‘Log Book of the World’. AF6C said that UZE’s Field Day Totals are also
up on the Website, and that UX turned in totals for the CA QSO Party, and, Bob got his
sister on her flight for back East early this morning.
AE & UZE get their Cook Island QSO confirmed from Log Book of the
World, and, wid the evening meal ready, Carl & Dee are off to din-din. YHX relays NC to Sam, works on feedlines, and is
busy wid school. IXN said lots of hot WX
ahead, and JTT can’t hear any stations but YHX! NGF(Tim),
finished wid din-din on the back porch tonite, and, using a new ant., just finished
talking wid his harmonic, Adam. NBV, wid three
ants. on the roof, was operating 1200W. DNR
checked in from the RACES Net and asked AF6C abt ‘talking book’ repairs at
Braille Institute…might help Bob and DLA out in the future! OML was down in the QRN at IXN’s QTH tonite.
9/12/2012 2m Phone Net
– W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in K6DNR, KE6YHX, W6JTT, KI6OML, KJ6LHA, KF6EVX, N6NBV, KJ6UJA,
N6ZQF, KJ6QZO, and K6RMR(Stan). DNR had a
problem hearing OPs on 10m, and YHX, busy wid school work, picks up squelch modules for
the Alinco from EBay, and JTT uses the 10m dipole to pick up EW stations. OML didn’t get to the Braille Institute today,
having business at the airport, and, LHA, wid a vertical ant., says 10m skip doesn’t
allow him to hear all OPs on 10m. EVX said
that OPs are needed for a civic event on Oct. 6. If

And NBV has a new 1200W no-tune amplifier to go along wid the 3 ants. on the
roof! UJA updated us on events at Disneyland
(haunted mansion for Halloween, trick & treating tickets, etc.) ZQF, busy tonite, missed the 10m Net. June, KJ6QZO, checked in, and Stan, K6RMR, in
Huntington Beach, also checked into Net.

– W6ZE/AF6C checked in KJ6OML, KE6YHX, WB6IXN, and K6DNR. OML, down in the QRN at IXN’s QTH, and AF6C
discussed penetrex used on joints when assembling an antenna…Gene bought a similar
material at the Candy Store. YHX, wid his 1st
calculus test completed, likes his teacher, and AF6C had the good fortune of being taught
calculus by a genius! AF6C also ponders buying
a new Epson inkjet printer. IXN’s
brother, Lee, had tubes placed in his middle ears to relieve fluid buildup behind his
eardrums, and, DNR, working the 10m band today, checked into the 2m Net after his RACES
net, and Bob copied all OPs on the Net tonite.
9/19/2012 2m Phone Net
- IXN experienced a tone beep when trying to
start the Net. A quick landline to AF6C
brought KE6YHX, Corey, to the rescue! KR6J
diagnosed IXN’s problem immediately…IXN had turned on the “wires”
connection, that connects rig and computer to the Internet, by mistake. IXN thinks the rig will be OK having turned off
“wires”! W6ZE/KE6YHX checked
in WB6IXN, KR6J, AF6C, K6DNR, KJ6LHA, KJ6UJA, KJ6OML, N6QIC(Lisa), and KF6EVX. KR6J explained the “Wires” tone on IXN’s
sigs which helped IXN to solve the problem quickly, and much tnx to Corey for assuming NC
duties! AF6C and YHX briefly discussed
impedance matching between the computer and the rig, and Bob said that DLA is home from
the hospital and they went to repair talking books at Braille today…AF6C reminded all
about Club meeting Friday nite. UJA asked AF6C
about ALC control, and, speech processing on the Kenwood TS-430S. Lisa, N6QIC, will be testing this weekend wid WARA
to upgrade. EVX repeated need for OPs for an
upcoming public event in Oct.
9/26/2012 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in
WB6IXN, KE6YHX, KE6DNR, KI6DHT, and KE6OML. IXN
reported lights on in the repo next door…Might be possible break-in! YHX ordered a CFS module for the Alinco, and Corey,
busy at school, finds time to upgrade his Halloween Darth Vader costume. AF6C, OML, and DLA all volunteered repairing
Talking Book Machines for Braille Institute today, and AF6C has been working some DX
lately, ie: Conroy Islands, 302C, American Samoa, etc.
DNR is still experiencing a lot of QRN on 10m at the shack, and
KI6DHT(Mike), using a Alinco AL-572, will be off early to bed wid to join the XYL, and
early to rise to work some DX. IXN had QRN on
OML’s sigs, and Gene is one of the ‘regulars’ volunteering to work on
Talking Book repairs at Braille Institute. The
OCARC thanks AF6C, DLA, and OML for volunteer community service!
9/26/2012 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked
in K6DNR, KJ6OML, N6NBV, WA6LDT(Phil), KJ6LHA, KI6UJA, AF6C, KE6YHX, N6XCR(Jim), W6GMU,
and N6ZQF. DNR has gud reception on 10m during
the day, but night brings noise! OML enjoys
volunteering fixing Talking Books at Braille Institute.
NBV, Steve, and, Phil, LDT, are friends.
NBV is back from Sacramento where he flew to help a fellow OP. LHA and UJA ‘flew in and flew out’. YHX, wid a revamped Darth Vader costume, is
thinking of entering the Halloween Contest at Disneyland.
We told Jim,N6XCR, from San Dimas, that we were operating simplex and not on
a repeater. El Presidente, Paul, GMU, is
building up his station, and, Paul reminded all of the upcoming Club Auction next month! ZQF checked in near Net’s end. AF6C said that volunteers at Braille Institute
generally work from around 8:30 am to 12:00 noon and then go for a bite to eat.
