4/03/2013 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in N6HC, WB6IXN, W6HHC, KJ6OML, KJ6QZO, W6ATB, KE6OPK, KE6YHX, VK4LOT(Dennis).  DX!  Right on!  OPs worked Dennis, VK4LOT, in Queensland, Australia!  HC, busy doing gardening, cleaning up, and house chores, didn’t work the Contest last weekend…However, Arnie accompanied W6UX to a shooting contest, and, will travel to the Long Beach Aquarium come Monday. IXN, busy wid funerals the past two weeks, planted flower beds.  AF6C tackled taxes and worked the DX Contest last week, and Bob and OML cleaned off the Book Reading Machines shelf at Braille today…Mystery: Where did the green Book Reading Machine with the ‘white spots’ come from?  QZO will take her test next week, and HHC has been busy wid planning meetings for both ‘Baker-to-Vegas’ and the revised DATV Board…And HHC had a vy funny PSK-31 story that he sent to Newsletter editor.  ATB and IXN didn’t hear VK4LOT too well tonite, but ATB got his PSK-31 set up and running.  OPK, planning a trip to Palm Springs, was zero copy at IXN’s QTH tonite.  YHX added an automatic antenna tuner to the shack, and AF6C & HC copied copied LOT in Australia FB!

 

4/03/2013 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in KE6YHX, KJ6OML, AF6C, KJ6QZO, W6JTT, KA6VKP, AF6CF, KE7RXD, and WA6ATB.  The Net ‘strung out’ too long and VKP, CF, RXD, and ATB ‘flew out’ before NC got to them!  YHX looks over the shack cooler in preparation fer summer WX, and OML & AF6C get spare parts for the Talking Book machines, and QZO, taxes done, is ready fer her test.  JTT worked on a grounding system at the shack in Idyllwild where he & the XYL watched a nieghbor’s house burn! Lorin, KE7RXD picked up his Extra Class Ticket…Congrats, Lorin!

 

4/10/2013 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in KE6YHX, W6JTT, W6HHC, WB6IXN, KJ6OML, K6DNR, KJ6ZNT, N8AE, N8UZE, and W6ATB.  AF6c continues to help a lady wid her MAC computer, and Bob said that AF6CF has PayPal up on the Club website.  YHX got the power supply repaired while he waited, programmed a controller, and is working on a logging program.  JTT upgrades the station by completeing some antenna work, and HHC is ready fer the Baker-to-Vegas Run this weekend!  And Ken mentioned a site where he got an old Henry Radio resistor for a heat sink to use in a dummy load.   IXN mentioned nice WX ahead, and volunteers OML, AF6C, and DLA cleaned off the shelves of Talking Book Machines at Braille Institute today…Tnx, guys!  OML also finished and mailed in his taxes!  KJ6ZNT(Doug), in Fullerton and a Club member, was down in the QRN at IXN’s QTH, but like AF6C, Doug is a Penn State grad!  DNR ‘flew in and flew out’, and AE and UZE, after being laid off,  leave early tomorrow morning for their home in Chicago.  ATB asked abt antenna height and restrictions in Orange…YHX and HHC supplied Greg wid answers!

 

4/10/2013 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in WB9YCJ, KE6YHX, W6JTT, N8AE, N8UZE, KJ6OML, and K6DNR.  YCJ, high up in the bleachers at Anaheim Stadium, reported on the Angel’s continuing losing streak, and, Ken is looking forward to the Club’s special Field Day coming up in June!  YHX’s antenna tuner is doing FB, and Corey reports a 60 ft. height limit for antennas in the City of Orange, and YHX continues work wid computer programming.  Wid income taxes done, digital up and running, JTT now works at connecting the computer to the rig.  AE and UZE are on their way back to the Chicago area…Carl & Dee will try to contact us on FD…We’ll miss Carl’s great nature pictures and his help rendered to Club members and projects…Who knows, we might surprise each other meeting on the 10m Net in the not-to-distant future…Gud luck, OPs!  OML busies himself wid swimming pool chores on the ‘back 40’, and DNR joined us at Net’s end wid 5/9 sigs.

 

4/17/2013 10 Meter Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in KE6YHX, KJ6OML, WB6IXN, W6ATB, W6ZNT(Doug), W6HHC, WØMEC, and KH7SB (Scott). YHX continues work on a digital readout, and AF6C sends kudos to OP participants in the Baker-to-Vegas Run.  OML, DLA, and AF6C got 8 Talking Book machines charged and running today at Braille Institute, and OML now has the dipole ant. up 60 ft.  IXN has all the gardens planted.  IXN & ATB have low noise levels tonite, and Greg has been working PSK-31.  ATB also has a new 6m beam.  HHC tests a problem 2m rig used on Baker-to-Vegas…Trouble must have been wid the antenna…Rig doing FB tonite!   ZNT has a high QRN level tonite…All OPs are ‘down in the mud’!  AF6C has a microphone for MEC’s rig, and Clem was down in the QRN at IXN’s QTH tonite.  OPs heard KH7SB check in from Hilo, Hawaii where temps have been ranging from 69 to 80 degrees…Scott faded in and out at IXN’s QTH.

 

4/17/2013 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in KE6YHX,  W6HHC, AF6C, KJ6OML, and N6NBV.  YHX continues applications programming in C and assembly language, and IXN gave HHC a gud report on the 2m rig used at Baker-to-Vegas where 13 club hams helped wid communications!  N6NBV,in Mission Viejo, using a hamstick ant, checked into Net mobile wid gud sigs.  OML said QZO set studying for her upgrade to finish up taxes!

 

4/24/2013 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/KE6YHX checked in AF6C, W6JTT, WB6IXN, and W6HHC.  We thank Corey for handling NC duties tonite!  JTT had bad QRN at the shack tonite, and his horizontal dipole is up abt 20 ft.  AF6C has been refurbishing W5KMG’s old Drake rig which is on sale on the Club website!  The rig was putting out 5/9 sigs wid gud audio at IXN’s QTH!  And Bob copied all checkins FB at his QTH.  IXN mentioned a British nanosatellite, STRaND-1, that is now in orbit and capable of being heard by Hams!...Type in ‘STRaND-1’in your search engine to bring up the site for further info.  HHC was burning Baker-to-Vegas photos to a CD, and Ken & Diane were having family over for din-din tomorrow evening.

 

4/24/2013 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in KE6YHX, N6NBV, AF6C, KJ6QZO, KJ6OML, WB9YCJ, KF6EVX, W6JTT, and N6XCR.  YHX continues work on programming software to control the FT-840, using C++.   NBV uses a Hamstick ant. for mobile operation, and an antenna tuner on the 40, 75, and 10 meter bands.  AF6C checks in on the HT wid 5/9 sigs at NC’s QTH. And Braille Institute didn’t use Club volunteer OPs today…No units to repair!...Besides, OML had other appointments.  QZO plans to upgrade on June 10, and YCJ checks in from Anaheim Stadium where he witnesses a couple of beer-drinking rowdy ‘dudes’ arrested and removed from the stadium!  EVX said that KB6CMO, Gene, needs help wid a benefit to be held Apr 24-27.  JTT adds a new EICOM 7410 rig to the shack that has MARS capability.  It has a built in antenna tuner…Next will be some ant. switching! N6XCR(Jim) checked into Net wid FB sigs, asking about our 2m Net.
