8/07/2013 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in WB6IXN, WÆMEC, W6HHC, KE6YHX, and KJ6OML.  AF6C is out of the dentist’s chair after getting his teeth cleaned, and Bob said there was smoke from the Hill fire in Irvine Monday.  IXN said W6ATB checked into the OCWN CW Net last Sunday, and, Bob is still nursing a sore lower jaw after two stem implants in preparation for a new permanent bridge.  HHC prepares another presentation on DATV, and Ken & Diane enjoyed their Alaskan vacation.  IXN could not copy MEC down in the QRN, and YHX, done wid programming for the Controller, is now relaxing.   OML, AF6C, and DLA, completed servicing all Talking Book machines on the shelf today at Braille Institute, and, OML must replace an errant hedge trimmer.

 

8/07/2013 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in WB9YCJ/p, AF6C, KE6YHX, KJ6OML, and K6DNR.   YCJ checked in from abt 150 ft up in Angel Stadium bleachers as he watched the Angels losing another game!  And AF6C, wid sore gums tonite, BDs on July 4, followed by IXN on July 5!  YHX prepares to start his new calculus course…Corey got a head start with a ‘Teach Yourself Calculus’ book!  The ‘Triumvirate’ AF6C, OML, and DLA processed 13 Talking Books today at Braille Institute…OML said charging batteries in the new machines may take from 2 to 19 hrs…Tnx, Guys!  DNR will take the YAESU rig to the radio doc tomorrow, and bob said his Dad was also born on the 4th of July! IXN must replace a hot water stem in the bathroom sink tomorrow.

 

8/14/2013 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in KE6YHX, WB6IXN, WA6WZO, W6HHC, N6HC, W6ATB, WB9YCJ, and WØMEC.  YHX and dad have discovered the pros and cons of a pneumatic nailer as they reroof the QTH, and, we welcomed back to the Net, Fried, WA6WZO, as he makes much needed repairs on gear and antennas!  And Fried and HC said that Steve Shobe, W6SKS, in Laguna Hills, is very knowledgeable in helping solve ham radio problems!  And Arnie will have a presentation at Club meeting come Friday nite…HC also said he talked wid Carl & Dee back in the Chicago area, and I think that Dee is working.  ATB was called to the phone, and Ken told ATB that daylight in Alaska lasted too long to photograph Northern Lights, and, Ken has finished his presentation on DATV for the Seattle TAPR DCC meeting.  AF6C briefly discussed a Mosley PA-33 antenna, and, no ball park for YCJ…He was at the QTH tonite. MEC was down in the QRN at IXN’s QTH, and, IXN gave an astronaut update, wid more astronomy info. at next Net!

 

8/14/2013 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in KE6YHX and W6ATB.  YHX is preparing to start his calculus course at should have it’s new roof!  IXN passed RND’s thanks on to ATB for Greg’s check-in to the OCWN CW net…We hope to hear from Greg agn!   And IXN is once again able to chew on the right side of his mouth after receiving two dental implant screws in his lower jawbone for a future permanent bridge!

 

8/21/13 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in N6HC, KE6YHX, W6JTT, KI6OML, WB6IXN, W6HHC, and W6ATB.  HC and AF6C discuss recent city sewer cleaning.   The OPs thanked Arnie for a FB presentation on the 1984 Olympics Amateur Radio Station at the Olympic Games.  Also, the Club tnx HHC for an excellent Digital-ATV presentation, both events at last Club meeting.  YHX continues work on the QTH roof, and Corey is ready for that calculus course at college!  JTT copied HHC well but was experiencing some neighborhood QRN (maybe a welder)…And Sam will be off to the Idyllwild QTH to do some more antenna work.  AF6C & OML cleaned off the shelves of errant Talking Book machines today, and HHC said June’s info on the Club website has been updated.  IXN reported 79 deg. outside the QTH tonite and Bob read a short article on Dark Matter.  HHC warned OPs about pinhole leaks in copper tube plumbing around the QTH are being reported on Orange County…HHC also had an email problem getting email to ATB.  ATB will check on the problem as business customers may experience the same problem!...And Greg is off to Koos Bay, OR, next week for vacation!

 

8/21/13 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in N6NGV, KJ6OML, W6JTT, KE6YHX, and W6ATB.  The age-old problem of low net check-ins reared its head once agn!  Vacations, other activities at Net time, volunteer net control issues, purpose of Net, etc., are some of the problems.  NGV checked in thinking his buddy FMV might check into Net.  OML has a Talking Book Machine from Braille Institute that loses its battery charge before it reads one book!  JTT is in the process of buying a rental property near Idyllwild, and ATB tells Sam to check wid the San Diego Six Shooters for 6m info. on the 6m band, etc.  And ATB tells IXN that the Sunday morning CW Net meets at the time of other activities.   And YHX, IXN, and ATB briefly discuss the pros & cons of calculus as Corey continues his work wid the ‘Teach Yourself Calculus’ book.

 

8/28/2013 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in KJ6OML, W6JTT, K6LDC, KE6YHX, WØMEC, N6HC, K6DNR, and WB6IXN.  IXN fell asleep in the easy chair & checked into Net late.  AF6C and YHX discussed citrus trees…Bob’s Navel orange tree, lemon & lime trees and Corey’s just-planted Valencia orange tree.  And, YHX and dad finished the roof!  MEC was down in the QRN at IXN’s QTH.  HC announced the upcoming “W6B” Special Event call for the Route 66 Special Event day…Arnie will be the spcial event OP for our area!  DNR had gud reception on most OPs tonite!

 

8/28/2013 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in KE6YHX, W6JTT, KC7GQM(Jacob), AF6C, KE6OML, K6DNR, and KK6GJC(Rich).  We welcomed newcomer Jacob, KC6GQM, in Costa Mesa, a new arrival to the area from Utah!   And also, Rich, KK6GJC, who just got back his old Tech license!  Hope to see these OPs at a future Club meeting for an eyeball!  YHX planted his new $15 Valencia orange tree, and, Corey is now able to record amateur radio communications at the QTH.  JTT continues negotiations for a new Pine Cove rental home near Idyllwild, and, Sam heard IXN loud and clear at the Idyllwild QTH but Bob cud NOT hear him on 2m!  The Triumvirate, OML, AF6C, and DLA, serviced 8 new & 5 old Talking Book machines at the Braille Institute today…Tnx, guys!
