10/02/2013 10m Phone Net – There was no formal net tonite.  OPs held a small roundtable.  Heard on frequency were:  KE6YHX, N6HC, WØMEC, KJ6OML, and W6UX.  All OPs hoped that AF6C was doing FB wid no major difficulties!  HC has been busy wid ‘life & circumstances’, and , UX ‘flew in & flew out’.  OML said he volunteered at Braille Institute today.    IXN was unable to hear MEC in the QRN!

 

10/02/2013 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in W6JTT, KJ6OML, KE6YHX, KJ6UFJ/m, and KK6FYT(Ron).  JTT, busy wid body scans, gets up to the mountain QTH to work on antennas now & then, and, the Triumvirate AF6C, OML, and DLA, serviced 6 new Talking Book machines and 2 old ones today at Braille Institute …Tnx, Guys!  IXN is still having teeth repaired, and UFJ is still mobile as he continues work on the base station.   YHX completed new shelving at the QTH, expanding storage space.

 

10/09/2013 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in WB9YCJ, WØMEC, W6ATB, KJ6OML, WB6IXN, W6HHC, KE6YHX, and K6DNR.  YCJ made money in the stock market, had a good trip to Japan and wnts to go back, bought a new rig, and will pick up a new folded dipole antenna!  IXN cudn’t hear MEC who was down in the QRN, but, Clem had a gud corn patch this year.  Last Wed., AF6C was at a Douglas engineers get-together.  Today found Bob at OSH buying lumber to repair a weathering fence.  ATB, wid a cold tonite, was on the long wire ant. having disconnected his regular ant. for fear of a possible lightning strike.  AF6C said OSH on 17th St. has gone Chapt. 11.  OML, DLA, and AF6C, skipped volunteer work at Braille Institute this week, and IXN & Lee visited WEL-NAV off Red Hill Ave…They make a 5+ foot 2 ½ diameter tube filled with 4 or 5 sections packed wid electronics which provides a stable platform in a well bore to show the orientation of the well bore hole…You can’t drill over into someone elses property!...The whole package must be long and Cylindrical…You can’t send a square box down a well bore hole!  HHC TNXed Ken-YCJ for the excellent pix from his Tokyo trip.  Ken-HHC & Diane enjoyed the colored leaves on their short vacation in VA.  YHX, doing some alignment work, said that comet ISON will go around the sun around Nov. 28… wid a magnitude of +6, it will be barely visible to the naked eye.  However, it will be a nice telescopic object!  DNR, wid vy little noise at the shack, checked into Net after the 10-10 Net.

 

10/09/2013 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in KE6YHX, KJ6OML, and W6ATB.   IXN will bring back QSTs to the Club Auction in October, and YHX will attempt to see comet ISON wid his telescope on Oct. 17…Corey also mentioned the upcoming CA. shake-out program for earthquake preparedness.   IXN heard high frequency hum on OML’s sigs, and ATB and all OPs had gud sigs as usual, and Greg talked about a system analyzer.

 

10/16/13 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in W6HHC, KJ6OML, KE6YHX, WB6IXN, W6JTT, and WØMEC.  AUCTION!...come Friday night Club meeting!  HHC is now sporting a new ASTRON power supply at the shack, and Ken has been experiencing trouble wid email sent to him via his ARRL email address!  And AF6C has the car doctors looking at an unsolved problem wid the auto.  AF6C & IXN have both been visiting their favorite dentist; AF6C getting teeth cleaned and IXN getting bridge work done.  All OPs are gathering ham gear to bring to the Club Auction Friday evening!...Sounds like AF6C will have the car pretty well loaded!  Wid AF6C busy at the dentist and other business, OML & DLA serviced Talking Books at Braille Institute today…Tnx, guys!  YHX was off to Big Bear to view Comet ISON through his telescope, and MEC was Q5 at NC’s QTH…QEC was down in the QRN at IXN’s QTH.  W6JTT ‘flew in and flew out’…Band conditions were BAD at Sam’s QTH tonite!

 

10/16/13 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in AF6C, W6HHC, KJ6OML, W6JTT, and KJ6UFJ.  IXN still has further dental work in his future, and AF6C tests a 2m rig wid 45W out tonite…And Bob has the new saw table-mounted now.  IXN will bring a SAPD Baker-to-Vegas report to Club meeting for HHC and back issues of ‘RF’ for AF6C to put up on the webpage.  OML & AF6C briefly discussed the 6 cell 2 amphour Ni metal hydride batteries used in the Talking Book machines at Braille Institute.  JTT is off to the mountains in two weeks to continue work on their rental house, and, Sam has an old transmitter that needs some coils befor he can operate it on 160m.  UFJ & IXN discussed things seismic in preparation for the ‘Great Shakesup’ tomorrow…We will continue our discussion at Club meeting.

 

10/23/13 10m Phone Net – W6ZE/AF6C checked in KE6YHX, W6HHC, WB6IXN, W6JTT, KJ6OML, WØMEC, and W6ATB.  AF6C tells YHX that GMU will be editor of next ‘RF’, and Corey & Bob discuss food recipes briefly.  HHC & OPs were pleased wid the very successful Club Auction held last Friday evening!...We can’t thank Chip Margelli enough for the excellent auctioneer performance!  OPs thank Robbie KB6CJZ for help wid auction procedures. AF6C exercised his plumbing skills on 2 errant water faucets. E=h? seems to be the basic formula to use in particle physics when we consider particles to be wave bundles vibrating with definite frequencies, while E=mc2 does nicely when we deal wid ordinary matter, says IXN.  JTT sigs were S7 at IXN’s QTH.  OML, UG, and IXN find the overcast WX a bit depressing, and, Gene will be off to Vegas next week.  AF6C and DLA had 20 Talking Book machines to service at Braille Institute today…Tnx, guys!  MEC was down in the QRN at IXN’s QTH but Clem’s corn stalks in the garden were almost as high as the house!  ATB, AF6C, and IXN & brother, Lee, are all Ace Hardware visitors now and then.

 

10/23/13 2m Phone Net  - WB6IXN turned on the rig wid nothing familiar on the screen!  IXN still doesn’t know what happened!  The rig had to be reset for 2m operation!  In the meantime, Corey, KE6YHX, called the Net to order, and, he checked in W6JTT, AF6C, KJ6OML, WB6IXN (finally), W6ATB, and KA6TIM(Tim) in Pasadena.  IXN did not get many notes but did hear JTT plan to be doing antenna work at the mountain QTH next week, and, joined OPs in a short discussion on computers making life and death decisions.  OPs welcomed TIM to the Net and we hope he will join us on future Nets! We thank Corey for taking NC duties during IXN’s predicament!

 

10/30/13 10m Phone NetW6ZE/AF6C/KE6YHX checked in KE6YHX, W6ATB, WØRXX(Don), W6HHC, and WB6IXN.   KE6YHX then took over as NC so AF6C could continue to watch Boston win the World Series.  YHX made his first Japan contact on Mt. Fuji on 10m!  ATB, on the 10m vertical tonite, has low noise tonite, and Greg frequently operates on the 10m band.  Don-RXX, back back from a 5 yr lull in operating, found 10 & 15m jam-packed over last weekend!...Don, in Irvine, operates mostly DX.  IXN had a problem getting the rig back on frequency…Success finally!  HHC says DATV boards will soon be ready fer sale probably by January 2014.  Corey and Greg asked many questions about what would be required to put together a Digital-ATV station.

 

10/30/2013 2m Phone Net – W6ZE/WB6IXN check in WB9YCJ/m, KE6YHX, AF6C, W6ATB, N6NBV, KB6WHV(David), and KK6FXZ/m.  YCJ checked in mobile near Memory Lane to report a Redsox World Series win.  YHX is now interested in DATV, and IXN commented that he never made a contact on Mt. Fuji, Japan, as did Corey.  AF6C was a loner at Braille Institute today, but he serviced 14 machines, leaving 2 on charge…Bob talked to his sister on the East Coast during the World Series game, and Bob wished all OPs a Happy Halloween.  And YHX told ATB to try Satellite Service DVB-S on his new satellite receiver.   NBV dropped in to say hello wid vy strong sigs, and David, WHV, in Northridge also had gud sigs at NC.  Joe, KK6FXZ, checked in mobile wid Gud sigs also.
