Orv Beach - W6BI gave the club a presentation on AREDN via Zoom. Orv, who has been licensed since 1967, has been messing around with ham radio networking for the past 12 years. He's a retired Linux system administrator, an ARRL Santa Barbara Section Technical Specialist and an AREDN Ambassador.

ARRL Field Day

The OCARC conducted ARRL Field Day operations at the Huntington Beach Spring View Middle School grounds at 16662 Trudy Lane, Huntington Beach, CA. Setup began on Friday. Operations began Saturday morning at 1800Z (11 AM PDT).

Field Day Presentation

The June Meeting was held the week before the June 2026 Field Day. Field Day plans were discussed including loading of equipment from our storage site and a discussion of the layout and setup of equipment.

“Test Gear for Hams on a Budget”

Our February guest speaker was Doug Millar - K6JEY. Doug talked about Test Equipment that is available to hams at reasonable prices. Doug also brought calibration standards so members could check their meters against accurate calibration standards.

Winter Field Day

The club participated in Winter Field Day, setting up operation in Huntington Beach. We will be awaiting the publication of the results. The club again feels it has achieved a competitive score. Checkout the video in our "Theater".

“The Queen Mary”

Our January guest speaker was Dave Akins - N6HHR. Dave is a member of the Amateur Radio Association of Long Beach and Radio Officer aboard the Queen Mary. Dave related to the club some Queen Mary history, and how amateur radio helped restore the ship's radio room.
