ATB is refurbishing an old Ranger 1 transmitter fro a CW station, and Greg suggested Black Star Canyon as a site to observe Comet Lovejoy. HC and AF6C have both worked the K1N Navassa Is. DXpedition. UX, common mode currents under control, finds trying to work the K1N DXpedition impossible at present. Wid the work table full of miscellaneous equipment, OML, DLA, and AF6C skipped Braille today. MEC copied all OPs tonite and we copied Clem, and IXN alerted OPs to John, WA6RND’s sight problem. Wid a disabled ant. rotator, AF6C cannot turn the beam.

W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in W6JTT, KE6YHX, WØMEC, AF6C, and KK6FYG. JTT is off to the rental in the San Jacinto Mts. Tomorrow to do repair work on the house and his antennas. And YHX prepares to photograph Comet Lovejoy this weekend, checking out his CCD camera settings beforehand. MEC, using 2.5W, is using a 2m J-pole for his ant, And IXN says little or no rain this weekend. AF6C said no Braille today, a big competition event in progress, and Bob is working wid income tax. FYG brought back memories of Comet Hale Bopp in the ‘90s, and Mike said all was quiet on the seismic front.

MEC heard most OPs tonite, and UX has logged 10 contacts wid the Navassa Is. DXpedition. OML and AF6C brought ailing Talking Book Machines back to operation at Braille Institute today, leaving a number of batteries on charge…Tnx, guys! And UX gets a W6AMZ wire ant. for nighttime work. IXN’s upright ‘V’ antenna came thru the SA winds FB. JTT ‘flew in and flew out’.

W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in W6JTT, KJ6OML, W6ETC, KE6YHX, WØMEC, SF6C, K6PKA/m, and KK6FYG. JTT & son have finished remodeling the rental…Now for an ‘open house’ on the weekend. And Sam is still ‘going round & round’ wid MFJ on a defecfive antenna switch. OML an AF6C serviced 33 machines at Braille today, leaving six on charge. ETC reported vy little SA wind tonite while Mike, FYG, in Rialto, reported 40 to forty five mi/hr gusts! ETC researches antennas for the QTH as he considers a 4BTV vertical, and AF6C loosens and rotates the ailing beam (rotator)for better K1N DXpedition contacts. YHX found Comet Lovejoy much dimmer last weekend…Lets see what happens on Feb. 15 when Lovejoy will be at perihelion! Jack, PKA, checked into Net mobile wid gud sigs, and Mike, FYG, in Rialto, said all was quiet seismically. IXN said most minor EQ activity appears to be located in northern CA, and, just south of the border in Mexico…Southern & Central CA. have been very quiet!

W6ZE/AF6C checked in WØMEC, K6WHP, KJ6OML, AF6CF, KJ6JKA, KE6YHC, WB6IXN, and AG6UG. MEC checked in S6 at IXN’s QTH, and Clem copied most all OPs tonote. Nicolas was S7 at Clem’s QTH, and Clem is running abt 2W tonite. WHP pulled NC out of the noise tonite, and Bill has a manule for AF6C. AF6C has the beam pointed toward K1N, and Bob said the ‘Triumvirate’, AF6C, DLA, and OML worked at Braille today. AF6C’s sister will visit Bob next week, keeping away from heavy snow at her home in the Northeast! OML replaced a power cord on a Talking Book machine today, and CFR is copying all OPs tonite on a loop ant. thru high SWR - Nicholas was S7 at IXN’s QTH tonite. JKA, wid high QRN, heard all OPs tonite wid vibrations on Wil’s voice at IXN’s QTH. YHX gets a new standoff ?, Rohn, I believe - And Corey gives all OPs their sig rpt. UG joins IXN when it comes to weed pulling…that time of year!

OML said the triumvirate serviced 8 new Talking Book machines at Braille today, and UG is busy doing Spring planting and weeding. IXN told OPs abt a low, spreading weed that will make your hands smell for about 3 days when you pull it! MEC copied all OPs, wid JKA booming in at the QTH tonite, and WHP ‘flew in and flew out’. AF6C will have badges at Club meeting Fri. eve., and HMW talked abt 2005 version of TNC software. JKA talked abt relatives in vy,vy cold Massachusetts, and, like other OPs, weeds growing everywhere! ETC is looking forward to Friday Club meeting, and Tom reminds OPs not to forget the online OCARC survey.

In the absence of AF6C, Ke6HYX assumed NC duties…TNX, Corey! KE6YHX/W6ZE checked in WØMEC, W6JTT, WB6IXN, N6HC, and W6ATB. ATB will check out 6m sigs from MEC, and Clem helped relay JTT’s sigs to YHX. IXN reported on the Great American Eclipse coming Aug. 27, 2017. HC noted IXN’s absence from last Club meeting; Bob had dental work done and forgot Club meeting! IXN ALWAYS enjoys Arnie’s talks! HC ‘tweaked’ his back experiencing a wee bit of pain at present - Also, Arnie mentions various computer modes of communicating for hams. ATB talked abt a 10m vertical for Field Day, and HC and ATB briefly discussed the Amsterdam DXpedition group.

JTT’s son David has been working at the ‘rental’ up in the San Jacinto Mts, and JTT has received his ant. switch, and Sam will build the 6m dipole ant mentioned in QST. AF6C and DLA missed Braille Institute today and OML said talking Book machines needing repair are backing up! [Correction - from AF6C: Braille emailed me saying "…there are very few machines in the repair shelves…"] ETC and YHX discussed erecting antennas on 10m & 6m on restricted sites, and Tom reminded all abt the Survey on the Club website, and Clem reported IXN’s sigs S5 tonite - Clem was using 10W tonite. ATB & IXN discussed the Great American Eclipse slated for Aug. 21, 2017. More on this as the date draws near.
