07/01/15 10m Phone Net

W6ZE/W6HHC checked in WØMEC, KJ6OML, KG6PGH(Doug), AG6UG, W5LIF(Stephen), K6DNR(Bob), W6EBP?, W6ATB, WB6IXN, and K6ANR?. Wid AF6C’s sister in town, Ken, HHC, assumed NC duties tonite. OML always finds Field Day a learning experience, wid Gene being familiar wid LOARA and WARA past FDs. MEC was at FD and IXN & Lee got there too late to return Clem’s railroad DVDs. IXN & Ken briefly discussed gud 15 & 20m band conditions well into the evening, especially on CW, on FD. Then HHC gave a report on Field Day scores. The FD score was very good with less stations than last year. Read more on the Club Web page! And all OPs enjoyed food provided by the Boy Scouts…Thank you, guys & gals!! UG had a gud time at FD, and Steve, LIF, also visited the FD site, and DNR visited all FD stations, including the GOTA station. ATB said there was a sporadic E condx tonite that accounted for DX interference on the band tonite.

W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in WØMEC, KJ6OML, W6HHC, KK6TRC, K6FYG, K6MZC?(Nick), in La Mesa, KK6REB, and KE6YHX. Once agn, HHC gave the Field Day scores…Tnx, Ken! And OML and DLA serviced 20 Talking Book machines at Braille Institute today. MEC was on the ‘slim jim’ ant tonite, up 30 ft., using 2.5 W. We thank TRC & all OPs who helped set up the Field Day site, and, IXN missed FYG’s visit to the FD site, but we’re glad you made it to the FD site! MZC’s call is not listed wid FCC…I must have heard Nick’s call wrong! REB made 10 contacts before FD, testing his equipment and Steve worked wid the 2 & 6 meter stations at FD. YHX was a main contributor on PSK-31, and, Corey enjoyed the great food!

07/08/15 10m Phone Net

Surprise! Surprise! Bob, AF6C and HHC were busy at Net time, so W6SQC, Cass, stepped in to take NC duties!...Tnx, Cass! SQC checked in KJ6JKA, KE6YHX, W6ETC, W6ATB, K6DNR, WB6IXN, and WØMEC. IXN noticed that JKA’s name is not on the Club roster, and YHX checked in planning to NC the 2m Net tonite. Tom, ETC, thanked Cass fer NC duties tonite, and ATB now has a 10m antenna up fer meteor shower activity. DNR checked in wid FB sigs, and IXN checked into Net late and announced Astronomy Club meeting Friday nite. IXN heard Clem well tonite and IXn will return Clem’s railroad videos at Club meeting.

07/08/15 2m Phone Net

Wid YHX busy at Net’s beginning, WB6IXN assumed NC duties…YHX checked into Net later, giving a short report on the GOTA station at FD. W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in KJ6OML, W6JTT, AG6UG, WØMEC, KK6FYG, W6ETC, and KE6YHX. OML says the Triumvirate now goes to Braille Institute every two weeks…The new machines don’t need much repair! JTT turned over in bed and accidentally smacked the XYL in the eye, and Sam busies himself cleaning up the shack wid three cats adding to the dirt…Sam is also planning more work at the Idyllwild property. UG is using reclaimed water on the tomato plants wid the same gud luck that IXN had years before using laundry rinse water! MEC had 5/9 sigs at NC’s QTH, but Clem said IXN was weak at his QTH tonite. FYG suspects seismic action on the Newport Inglewood Fault, and Mike will be receiving a certificate for working NY, NC, NH, SC, and PA, during the worked 13 colonies contest. ETC featured a barbecue at the QTH wid his daughter & family, and YHX said the GOTA station found the 10m band dead on FD.

07/15/15 10m Phone Net

Wid AF6C ‘under the WX’, W6HHC took over NC duties. Ken checked in W6ATB, KE6YHX, WB6IXN, WØMEC, KJ65OML, and W6ETC. YHX is still working on the truck, and Corey hopes to keep his ’lil green oranges from vermin & bird attacks. Parts are removed in HHC’s auto in order to repair an oil leak, and Ken attends a meeting of the Radio Club at the Senior Center in Orange this morning. ATB & brother prepare for the upcoming Perseid Meteor Shower using meteor scatter fer contacts, and Greg eats din din while on the Net. MEC is faint at IXN’s QTH tonite, and Clem comments on NASA shots of Pluto. IXN reads a blog abt ice being found on the planet Mercury, and the entire Net comments on yellow rose leaves, etc. ETC checks in and hears the 10m farmers discuss their garden ventures. YHX volunteers to be NC on the 2m Net tonite…TNX, Corey!

07/17/15 2m Phone Net

W6ZE/KE6YHX checked in WØMEC, WB6IXN, W6ETC, KK6TRC, W6ATB, and K6RMR. MEC was copying all OPs well tonite, and Clem could hardly hear IXN on 10m tonite. IXN copied all OPs 5/9 tonite, and Bob said yellow leaves on roses might be lack of iron. Bob also mentioned orange and powdery black rust on the undersides of rose leaves. ETC told OPs to see the FD collage up on the website, and OPs welcome Tom’s brother to amateur radio, and Tom tnx Corey fer NC duties tonite. YHX does research on parts for the truck, and Corey gets a new power supply. Stan, RMR, in HB, was 5/7 at NC’s QTH, and TRC tried to check into 10m Net tonite but was unsuccessful. However, Jeff ended up buying a new TMZ-71A rig.

W6ZE/KE6YHX checked in WØMEC, KJ6OML, WB6IXN, W6ATB, and W6ETC. IXN was weak at MEC’s QTH. OML copied Clem FB. OML told OPs that AF6C’s mom passed away on Tuesday, and Gene said that he & DLA serviced Talking Book Machines at Braille Institute today. This AM, ATB made his 1st 2m meteor scatter contact wid his brother on the other end. ETC copied IXN at 28.374.95 MHz. And Tom said arrangements were pending on AF6C’s mom’s funeral. ETC thanked YHX for assuming NC duties tonite.

07/22/15 2m Phone Net

W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in W6JTT, WØMEC, KJ6OML, W6ETC, KK6FYG, KE6YHX, KK6REB, KK6TRC, W6ATB, and KK6YNB(Jack). JTT was up in the San Jacinto Mts two weeks ago, had some cat damage in the QTH, and solved a grounding problem. MEC copied most OPs on 10m tonite, and, he copied all Checkins on 2m. OML announced AF6C’s mom’s passing on Ttues. Afternoon at 2 pm, and Gene said that he and Bruce, DLA, serviced 17 Talking Book machines at Braille Institute today, and ETC told IXN to change his brother’s(TRC)name from JACK to JEFF! (Sorry, Tom)! And ETC said that a panel of hams will be assembled at a future Club meeting to answer questions about ham radio. FYG checked into Net on a HT using 5W wid 5/5 sigs at NC’s QTH. YHX was busy checking out supply houses for bushings for his truck. REB had to go pick up his son at church, and over last weekend, TRC had to drive his motor home through a fire only to arrive at a flood! And ATB was a ‘happy camper’ tonite…Greg worked his brother for his 1st ever meteor scatter contact on 2m! IXN thanked YHX for NC duties on 10m, and we hope that VNB(Jack) will join us once agn at next Club meeting.

W6ZE/KE6YHX checked in WØMEC, W6JTT, WB6IXN, and W6ATB. Wid AF6C still busy wid his mom’s business, YHX assumed NC duties…TNX, Corey! And YHX is becoming quite the mechanic solving problems wid the truck. Wid high QRN tonite, MEC was weak at IXN’s QTH. JTT, wid gud sigs tonite, and, IXN missed what Sam was restoring at the shack. IXN remarked on bad band conditions tonite, and Bob mentioned a good railroad film on the Tehachapi Loop (UTube) to Clem. ATB is getting ready fer meteor scatter wid an upcoming meteor shower, on both 2 & 6 meters, and making successful contacts wid his brother. Yhen, Greg was back up on the ladder to finish work on coax.

W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in KE6YHX, WØMEC, KK6TRC, KJ6OML, KK6FYG, KK6REB, W6JTT, and W6ETC. Mechanic Corey, YHX, is investing in metric wrenches to work on his truck, and MEC cudn,t hear IXN on 10m tonite…And Clem will check out the free freight Consist film on the Tehachapi Loop. TRC busies himself adapting a computer to a new rig. And OML said that DLA had surgery so Gene will go to Braille Institute next week. IXN had hot, muggy WX in the shack tonite, but FYG had wind and no rain, and, Mike used a 5W HT and a log periodic ant. to work orbiting satellites. REB hopes to get KC6CQA and KC6CQM, older hams, to a Club meeting. JTT is beginning to have problems wid a neighbor’s vines that are climbing on telephone pole wires and cables…reminds IXN of HHC’s vine problem! We thank ETC for jumping in and giving Club info. when needed.
