03/01/2017 10m Phone Net

Let's try again! The Net notes disappeared! KE6YHX checked in WB6IXN, W6JTT, and WØMEC. There was high QRN and weak sigs at IXN's QTH. JTT cudn't hear YHX, and MEC was heard after NC closed the Net. IXN is having rig trouble…high SWR!

W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in W6JTT, KK6TRC, WØMEC, AF6N, W6MAO(new call for Mike in Rialto), K6PAD, KE6YHX, W6ETC, KD6JBL (Jerry, in FV), W6ATB, and KD6ZLV(Scott, in Laverne, CA). JTT will have his son check out the 10m ant. for any rain damage. TRC checked in on ECHOLINK and said ETC wasn't on ECHOLINK tonite. TRC & IXN are both working on weeds, etc. on the 'back forty'. MEC reports hearing most OPs, many lighting up 7 bars on the rig tonite. AF6N missed Net last week and Jim is using a J-pole antenna. Congrats to Mike, in Rialto, on the new call, W6MAO!...Mike has slight SA Winds tonite wid a temp. of 60 deg…IXN has 60 deg. in Santa Ana. PAD said the family had a nice hike in Crystal Cove today. YHX gave a rain guage report, installed a new light in the shack, and said winds were calm tonite. ETC said he had positive and negative comments to make on ECHOLINK communications, and JBL's 5 element quad is up 45 feet. ATB has been busy wid the business, but Greg has managed to work 2m meteor scatter…Greg didn't hear a soul on 10m tonite!

W6ZE/KE6YHX checked in WB6IXN, KJ6OML, and W6JTT. QRN was high. YHX discussed very briefly possible changes to the 10m Net in the future. OML cudn't hear Corey tonite, and, IXN's cataract surgery will be Mar. 29. Reception on the 10m band was very poor!

W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in W6JTT, KE6YHX, KK6REB, K6PAD, KJ6OML, and W6MAO. IXN joins JTT who also had cataract surgery, and we also have medical problems that arise with age! YHX got the windshield in the truck sealed and Corey will now work on a wind damaged 10m antenna. REB's son is absorbing a course in German, and PAD has a new 2m/440 antenna. OML reported that he, AF6C, and DLA serviced 25 machines at Braille Institute, some of them needing new batteries. MAO is expecting high SA winds tomorrow, and Mike worked the DX Contest over last weekend.

W6ZE/KE6YHX checked in KJ6OML, WØMEC, W6JTT, WB6IXN, KM6IZO, and W6ATB. For once, band conditions improved a bit! MEC found reception better later in the Net without changing settings at the rig. IXN has prelims to upcoming cataract surgery complete, and HHC thought he heard V.J., IZO, in there, and Ken worked 10m today. We continue to thank YHX for NC duties on 10m, and, Corey had only light damage from the recent rain storms. OML said he was hearing all OPs tonite, and ATB was on baby-sitting duties wid the grandkids plus working some meteor scatter on 6m.

W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in WØMEC, W6JTT, W6MAO, KJ6OML, KE6YHX, K6PAD, AF6N, KN6FBE, KI6REB, N1BKB, KM6IZO, and N6YMK. Wow! Great checkin, OPs! All OPs had gud sigs! MEC competed wid the QRN on 10m, but Clem's sigs were heard over the QRN, and JTT well over the new custom feedline to the ant. MAO had a slight SA wind blowing, a temp. of 71 deg, and some vy small EQs in the Rialto area. OML had no Braille report, but IXN got a notice from Braille Institute that it was time for a donation! Detective YHX researched Fred's call fer IXN…It is KM6FBE, a Tech living in Irvine, who 'flew in and flew out'! PAD was hearing all OPs well on the new antenna, and AF6N and IXN plan to attend Club meeting Friday eve., and Jim said the Club is preparing for our upcoming Field Day. Jim further reported Club meeting program this Friday will feature the W6XD DXpediton to the Ascension Islands. REB reported experimenting wid Iphones use wid radios. IXN hopes to meet VJ., KM6IZO, at Club meeting.

IXN was on the phone and missed the 10m Net. However NC, Corey, KE6YHX, checked in WØMEC, and KD6JBL, Amateur Extra Gerald, in Fountain Valley. Ten meters continues not to be open, and we miss our occasional DX on Wednesday evenings!

IXN, now free from the landline, checked in KJ6OML, AF6N, WØMEC, K6PAD, K6PKA, W6MAO, KM6FBE, KM6IZO, KJ6JKA, and KE6YHX…Great checkin, OPs! OML reported the Triumvirate, OML, AF6C, and DLA, all working at Braille Institute today servicing 17 Talking Book Machines, and sending some older machines back to LA. AF6N has been doing some antenna work but is now 'kicked back' listening to the Net. MEC builds a Slim Jim antenna for his son, and PAD works the 16 & 17 meter bands, mostly South American and Central American stations. PKA, Jack, 'flew in and flew out', and MAO reported 65 deg. temp, 69% humidity in Rialto wid minor EQ activity in Loma Linda. FBE expressed interest in a Club repeater and YHX said the Club mulled over using the RACES repeater. IXN was glad to hear Vijay, KM6IZO, via relay tonite, wid Vijay's sigs S2 at IXN's QTH. JKA was puttering around the shack tonite telling OPs to contact him on 144.430 simplex about LID interference. YHX and IXN briefly discussed different computer programming codes, which IXN left programming when BASIC 'flew out the window".

W6ZE/KE6YHX checked in K6PAD, W6JTT, WØMEC, WB6IXN, KJ6JKA, and W6ATB. IXN had cataract surgery today. QRN was bad at Net's beginning but improved later in the Net. We thank Corey for NC duties and Corey gave sig reports to OPs. IXN heard most signals at S3.

KE6YHX volunteered to NC the 2m Net in lieu of IXN's cataract surgery today. TNX Corey! KE6YHX checked in AF6N, WB6IXN, KK6TRC, K6PAD, W6JTT, KJ6JKA, WØMEC, and N6YMK. AF6N wished IXN well on recent surgery, and Jim updated OPs on latest preparations for Field Day. IXN gets eyepatch off tomorrow, and TRC `flew in and flew out'. PAD reported hearing all OPs tonite, and JTT, still working on antenna modifications, lit up 7 bars on IXN's rig. JKA's 5 watts lit up 8 bars on IXN's rig, and YHX, speaking briefly about amateur photography interests in high school, lit up 9 bars tonite. Clem, MEC, lit up 7 bars while AF6N lit up 5 bars at MEC's QTH. PAD was using 5W tonite. And N6YMK, Charles, in Fontana, CA. had gud sigs at IXN's QTH. TNX fer NC duties, Corey!
