What follows is the OCARC planning information that was posted for the recently completed 2023 ARRL Field. W6ZE ran in the 5A category in the ARRL Orange section of the Southwestern Division.
The Orange County Amateur Radio Club, OCARC, will host their Field Day at the Huntington Beach Ocean View School District HQ at 17200 Pinehurst Lane, Huntington Beach, CA 92647 - click for map -. This is where we have always held Winter FD in January. There is a large field to set-up and parking in the back on the asphalt (enter along buildings off parking lot). We are also considering 1 or 2 large tent rentals to operate some stations and to distance. If you're a ham just visiting the area on business or vacation, you're welcome to join us.
The School District does not permit alcohol or tobacco to be used on the school premises. If you bring a dog assure it is on a leash; you are responsible to dispose of any waste by the dog.
Bring a copy of your ham license to FD to allow you your full license privileges.
Here are maps and a layout of the Field Day site:
Directions to the Huntington Beach Ocean View School District HQ:
The location of the OCARC FD on the school grounds can be reached by entering from La Palma into the school's East driveway. See the annotated FD map. The school grounds are behind the school buildings to the south.
Tim Goeppinger N6GP will have his cell with him 714-875-2344
Construction of antennas and towers is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM (local time) on Friday June 23nd (while it is still cool).
Teardown will begin at the end of the 24 hour contest at 11 AM (local time) on Sunday June 25th.
The OCARC will be operating in Class “A”. The number of simultaneous transmitters we plan to be running is five, but is subject to change if necessary.
Technician class operators, this is your opportunity to work some HF bands with a relatively powerful station. If you are looking for inspiration to upgrade, this is your chance. Anyone can work the HF bands at a Field Day site with a properly licensed control operator present! Be sure to bring a copy of your license.
We will be using the Club call, W6ZE, for our general operations.
There will be a GOTA station this year wuisng the call W6NGO.
