The Orange County Amateur Radio Club, OCARC, will host their Field Day at the Walter Knott Education Center at 7300 La Palma Avenue in Buena Park, CA. This year's Field Day site is at the same location we've used since 2009. The school is located immediately west of Knotts Berry Farm. Everyone is welcome to attend. Amateur radio operators are encouraged to bring their families. If you're a ham just visiting the area on business or vacation, you're welcome to join us.
The School District does not permit alcohol or tobacco to be used on the school premises. If you bring a dog assure it is on a leash; you are responsible to dispose of any waste by the dog.
Bring a copy of your ham license to FD to allow you your full license privileges.
Here are maps and a layout of the Field Day site:
Directions to the Walter Knott Education Center in Buena Park:
The location of the OCARC FD on the school grounds can be reached by entering from La Palma into the school's East driveway. See the annotated FD map. The school grounds are behind the school buildings to the south.
The simplex frequency of 446.520 MHz (FM) will be monitored for people needing directions to the location or needing info.
Construction of antennas and towers is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM (local time) on Friday June 26th (while it is still cool). There will be no setup activities on Thursday due to soccer activities.
Teardown will begin at the end of the 24 hour contest at 11 AM (local time) on Sunday June 28th.
The OCARC will be operating in Class “A”. The number of simultaneous transmitters we plan to be running is six.
Technician class operators, this is your opportunity to work some HF now that the bands have finally opened up. If you are looking for inspiration to upgrade, this is your chance. Anyone can work the HF bands at a Field Day site with a properly licensed control operator present!
We will be using the Club call, W6ZE, for our general
operations.
The GOTA station will be using the call sign of Boy Scout Troop 440 — KI6ZPW.
Boy Scout Troop 440 will be providing meals at a fixed cost. This is a convenience to the club and a fund raiser for the Boy Scouts. There are two meal plans:
Plan 1, four meals for $25 includes the meals as follows:
Plan 2, five meals for $30 includes the four meals listed above and adds:
Individual meals are $7.50. A limited number of meals may be purchased at mealtime.
The Boy Scouts will also be running a "Trading Post" where misc. snacks and beverages may be purchased during daylight hours.
